I think he is evolving, just in ways we aren't seeing yet. Like I bet after the Vitor fight he evolved his sub defense game. Maybe he is practicing his bottom game? What we are probably going to find is that he is going to be put into a situation no one has seen him in before and he'll get out of it with ease. No way in hell Greg Jackson is letting JBJ even think he is anything close to the perfect fighter. It will always be something new.

OP is right to an extent, but maybe he doesn't really need to evolve at this point. There's a plateau eventually. The clinch guillotine or takedown, elbow smash will always be his bread and butter. Reminded of Tito when he was able to throw his weight around. I'd like to see him win by a standing KO though.
He probably would have done it to Rashad had he actually been committed to finishing that fight.

Otherwise no one has stopped the takedown.

Gus has been landing a lot of takedowns in recent fights but has been backing off to avoid great grapplers or BJJ experts. But here he is the underdog and should take risks. I wonder if he manage to tag Jones and take him down if he will commit and try to ground and pound or if he will let Jones up.

I think Gus has advantage AS LONG AS IN TOP POSITION vs Jones since I do not think Jones BJJ is stellar.

Weidman surprised everyone knocking Silva down when standing up. Will we be shocked again to see Gus land ground and pount and submit Gus from top position ?

If Gus somehow manages to knock him down I doubt Jones has a bottom game SO he should just wait away with elbows to cut him up badly just in case he isn't finished the cuts will affect Jones' for the rest of the fight. But that's a big if, Gus could be taken down easy by Jones in the clinch and Gus could be stupid enough to let Jones' reach matter when Chael clearly showed that it doesn't.

He was close with those standing elbows that he switched it up with. Those really bothered Rashad.

This is the best match up for the time being especially size wise. UFC O. has a point in that if Gus can land those takedowns it'll be a whole new ball game. I think he should focus on a leg lock submission.

After watching how many countless fights it's the strangest thing. EVERY FIGHTER eventually will be on the receiving end of what they have dished out and when it happens it happens in a bad way.

Tito use to manhandle his opponents til Chuck came along and then he got hurt pretty much every fight after.
Chuck - KOing the living daylights out of his opponents then getting clocked clean his last what five fights.
Wand - Brutalizing his opponents then getting brutalized back. He's the only one who's experienced a bit of a resurgence.
Fitch getting out Fitched by Maia then submitted by an ef-UFC fighter in a very surprising outcome.
Fedor vs Hendo vs Big Foot. Mainly with Big Foot though. What BF did to Fedor was hard to watch, but in reality that's what Fedor's did to his opponents mainly in the decade.
Big Nog finally getting submitted by Mir and Werdum in a very impressive style.

Oh and there's Mirko as well. Friggin Napao.

Then of course July 6th.

It always comes full circle.

Agreed. Except in all your examples the fighter is well over 33. Bones is 26. Im afraid hes going to be crushing fools for some time yet. Even if he loses to Gus, he'll still be winning a lot of fights afterwards.

Very true, but that's the point. Everything ends...even the immortals.

btw: Till this day I still laugh about the "hobitas" or was it the "hobitos." Is that even a real term...lolz!

He doesnt need to change since nobody has been able to offer much for him. He does change up how he finishes people, though. I could tell you every time what Silva was going to do for a while and he did pretty eell. Also, spoilers, GSP will lay on Hendricks for 3.5 rounds and do jabs for 1.5 rounds.
