Jon Jones is not evolving anymore
Seriously guys.
I was thinking in the Jones/Gus staredown and what Gus should be doing when not in training.
If i was him, i'd be training, sleeping or when not doing any of those, i'd be watching Jon Jones full career fight videos, over and over again.
I'd come to this point, where i'm facing my opponent (me imagining i'm Gus) and i can visualize what he is gonna do in the ring. And i know it all and i own in his game.
Why? Because in the last 4/5 fights Jon Jones hasn't shown anything new.
Sure he's great and his game is very intelligent/effective,
but it's been the same since a while now.

I think that Jon Jones isn't evolving anymore.
He just coasted at a very high level and i can't see him going any higher than this...

does he need to get any higher than this? Anybody in particular on his heels?

Feel free to share. What is he going to do in the fight?

After reading this, Jones will fight Gus with a blindfold on to prove he's still doing new things and evolving.

"If it ain't broken, don't fix it."
"Keep doing it until someone stops you."

Jones will VERY quickly before 1 minute has passed try to either

i) Go for a long clinch and a takedown like vs Sonnen
ii) Go for a quick takedown attempt in the center of the octagon like vs Brandon Vera or Shogun.

What are you talking about?

This must be what people call a "troll" post.

Until someone finds a flaw and exploits it, I don't believe this garbage. Machida landed one or two nice punches and Vitor attempted a sub. That's about all the considerable damage done to JJ. I'd say that's impressive for the four years he's been in the UFC.

How do you know what JJ does on his own time?

What makes you think he won't evolve anymore? He's 25 years old and has shown complete dominance in all his fights. At this age guys like Anderson/Fedor were only a few fights in their career and weren't even close to having any titles tied to their name. Jones is already the best LHW ever and has 5 title defenses.

My point being that he's evolved beyond most fighters today in a very short amount of time. There's no reason to not think that as he ages/fights he will get more techniques, more experience and refine his game. If anything I'd say he's evolving faster and at a higher rate than anyone else in MMA right now, the guy has been fighting for 5 years and is the most dominant LHW in the sports history and has 5 title defenses under his belt, I mean seriously, that's insane.

Kinda hard to tell whether someones evolving or not when they're so much better than their previous opponents.

HitOrGetHit 07-31-2013 05:31 PM

JBJ is dominating every single person they put him in with and is arguably the best fighter alive right now. Dude is in his mid 20's, and we are going to start talking about him not evolving?

If Jon Jones is no longer evolving, then everyone else is devolving.
