Belfort vs Sonnen for UFC168?

UFC stars Vitor Belfort and Chael Sonnen would like to meet in a catchweight bout at UFC 168 with the winner getting a shot at the Middleweight title.

UFC Middleweight Vitor Belfort has already made it clear that he doesn't want to fight at 185 pounds again unless it's for the title, but he's got an idea for in the meantime. Ariel Helwani reported last night on Fuel TV's UFC Tonight that Belfort would love to face Chael Sonnen in a catchweight bout.

For his part Sonnen, who faces Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in a Light Heavyweight bout on August 17 in Boston at UFC Fight Night 26, likes the idea but wants the bout to take place at UFC 168. He'd also like the winner to get a shot at the title.

Anderson Silva, of course, will be trying to reclaim the MW title from Chris Weidman on that card.

What do you think? Would the winner of a Sonnen/Belfort bout be a worthy title challenger?
This might be the worst one yet. A fight at CATCHWEIGHT to get a MW title shot?!

oh yeah, so it is:

Quote:
Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Vitor Belfort (23-10 MMA, 12-6 UFC), said that he would rather return to a higher weight class than hang around at middleweight to fight the likes of Strikeforce import Tim Kennedy (16-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC).
Well, that’s just fine with UFC President Dana White:
“Then let’s do him and Rashad (Evans),” White told reporters at yesterday’s promotional world tour. “He doesn’t want to fight Tim Kennedy? Let’s fight Rashad at 205.”
Vitor has stated that he is only interested in ‘title fights’. “The Phenom” has looked amazing in his last two octagon appearances, knocking out former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold and top contender Michael Bisping in the process.
The lone non-title fight that seems to interest Vitor would be versus “The American Gangster”, Chael Sonnen. But, with Chael being booked to fight Shogun Rua at next months UFC on FOX Sports 1 debut, that fight is still a long way from coming to fruition.
As for now, nothing regarding Belfort’s future is official, except for the fact that he is officially benched until White puts his stamp of approval on a prospective opponent. Rashad has been training with Vitor at the Blackzilians’ camp and would likely decline the offer to fight “The Phenom”, which indicates that Dana’s matchmaking may have a hidden message: Fight Kennedy, or don’t fight.

Why hasn't Vitor ever fought against Shogun. Think they were part of the same camp a very long time ago. Or even Lil Nog actually maybe not. Lil Nog is a bit weathered these days.

Still think Vitor should have got his shot against Weidman then let Anderson relax for a year...then make his long awaited return. The amount of pressure holding on to a title is exactly what Rogan said. "How long can you redline it..."

btw: Think there's another thread floating around about this.

Marcus Aurelius: Tell me again, Maximus, why are we here?
Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

Baked, not fried... the healthy choice.

Anderson made it clear he wants a rematch asap after he initially said he wasn't interested.
