Excitement for the "GOAT TV Card"

So Dana originally said the first Fox Sports 1 card would be the best free card in UFC history. Well, we know that's not the case. But at least on paper and your excitement level, how does it stack up? I really like Sonnen vs. Shogun as a fight (and Overeem on there is a good bonus too), but I still feel a little let down. I wasn't expecting GSP here or anything, but I thought there would be a Bendo or Aldo title fight or something, and even a slight chance at a Bones title fight upon initial announcement of all of this.

I think Dana is worried about a quick title fight like the first Fox card. The way Bones has been dispatching contenders, it's more quite likely that the fight wouldn't last long enough to capture people's interest.

Bendo almost guarantees you a 5 round fight but the excrement level comes and goes.

I agree though, he could have done more.

It's more then I could of asked or hoped for tbh, my expectations were not as high as what the booked fights ended up being. It's this and UFC 166 that are the most interesting announced cards not to happen this year for me. I mean what free card to we all know looked better then this really?

Mauricio Rua vs. Chael Sonnen
Travis Browne vs. Alistair Overeem
Yuri Alcantara vs. Urijah Faber
Matt Brown vs. Mike Pyle
Uriah Hall vs. John Howard
Michael Johnson vs. Joe Lauzon

Michael McDonald vs. Brad Pickett
Max Holloway vs. Conor McGregor
Mike Brown vs. Steven Siler
Diego Brandao vs. Daniel Pineda

Manny Gamburyan vs. Cole Miller
Cody Donovan vs. Ovince St. Preux
Ramsey Nijem vs. James Vick

Nothing is really coming to mind for cable tv cards or FOX network cards looking this good, throw in the the Fuel and Facebook prelims and this is one of the best cards of the entire year. The FOX 7 card is the only one that is comparable, it had a few better fights, but the overall card was not up to par with this. The only way to make the card better is to put McDonald vs Pickett on the FS1 portion imo. No card is one fight, this card is stacked with good, interesting fights, top to bottom. My excitement for the card is high.

I like MMA less because of this forum

This card is awesome. Nearly every fight has a known name in it, nearly everyone on the card is notoriously aggressive/dangerous or both.

Great card. Maybe not the 'best of all time', but definitely worthy of excitement.

I'm disappointed. The OP is misleading. I was expecting actual goats.

I have to be honest with you, this may in fact be the UFC's greatest card..not when it comes to star power, or evenly ranked fights but let's break this card down.

Facebook Prelims-
Quote:
Manny Gamburyan vs. Cole Miller
Cody Donovan vs. Ovince St. Preux
Ramsey Nijem vs. James Vick
Okay maybe not the most impressive fights on first glance but these are three evenly matched fights with six tough fairly entertaining guys. The whole purpose of these fights are to act as filler for when every other fight ends in the first round. You may very well have FOTN here.

Quote:
Diego Brandao vs. Daniel Pineda
Uriah Hall vs. John Howard
Michael Johnson vs. Joe Lauzon
Yuri Alcantara vs. Urijah Faber
I expect four first round enders, three TKO's and a sub though if they don't end in the first anyone of the four sacrificial lambs could pull off an upset come from behind decision.

Quote:
Mike Brown vs. Steven Siler
Michael McDonald vs. Brad Pickett
Matt Brown vs. Mike Pyle
Max Holloway vs. Conor McGregor
Four absurdly bloody brawls. Not only that but they should look different, Conor/Holloway is going to likely feel like a K-1 battle, Siler/Brown could be a muaytai murder, Pyle/Brown that's a pick'em fight, and Pickett/McDonald is the BM version of Condit/Hardy somebodies' getting 1 punch KO'd.

Quote:
Travis Browne vs. Alistair Overeem
To quote my favorite current pro-wrestler, this is wig splitin' time. Overeem is either going to brutalize Browne or Browne is going to do something crazy to KO Overeem.

Quote:
Mauricio Rua vs. Chael Sonnen
The main event maybe the weakest fight and we don't know what condition either guy is in. If Chael does something stupid he could get finished, if Shogun isn't in shape it's going to be a brutal pillow punching decision. But if both guys are in shape, motivated and go for five rounds...this could be a FOTY candidate.
