Kampmann did well but ran out of steam midway through round 2. Not that he was gassed, he just wasn't as fresh as Condit anymore and that's what cost him the fight in my opinion. Great performance by Condit after round 1.

Two great fighters who will stick around the top 10 for years to come imo.

I want condit vs rory for 5 rounds and kampmann vs lawler
That's a pretty easy thing to say post fight... I couldn't KO the guy, so I'll say I wasn't trying. Jonny has a lot of stock on that left hook of his. Wouldn't want to lose any face with it.

I think ol' Kenny Florian has lost his marbles. "no one at 170 can keep this pace with Condit, no one"... do the names Nick Diaz and GSP ring any bells with you bud?

Exactly, he was coming at him full force in the first round.. Then after Condit wasnt phased, he probably backed off a little when he realized Condit wasn't gonna be stopped. That was smart though, he needed every drop in his gas tank for that fight..

Head-butting fists and KOing the air is not effective striking.

I ******* love Carlos Condit. Every fight he is in there trying to win, whether it's an armbar when he's pressed against the cage, or a triangle attempt when he's down, or trying to finish with a striking combo. Every fight he's just a joy to watch.

Only fight he didn't have a killer mentality was the Diaz one, but I don't blame him considering it was for a title shot, and you may as well take advantage of someone who is beyond one-dimensional.

Anyone else think this fight was kind of odd? I felt like they were half speed most of the fight. I don't mean gassed either, I mean then just didn't really seem like they were in there to hurt each other. The majority of it looked like sparring rounds to me.

Maybe I'm way off, might have to watch again but that's what I was thinking watching it.

I didn't think so. I never really thought of Condit as a fast fighter, just unorthodox. I think Kampmann looked a bit timid at times though once he realized he couldn't turn it into a grappling match.

I thought Condit looked very slow in the first round.

Excellent fight from two of the best at WW. I knew Martin was probably going to lose after the first. He just used way too much energy in that first round for a guy who doesn't have the greatest gas tank. He slowed down and Condit didn't and started eating 4-5 strikes to land 1 or 2.

It's never a good strategy when you're plan is to wrestle/grapple someone for 5 rounds; when your opponent has twice the gas tank you do.

Obviously that's where he thought his biggest advantage was but unfortunately the advantage wasn't overwhelming, and all he did was tucker himself out.
