Mike Pierce vs Rousimar Palhares Fight Night 29 (Oct 9)

Palhares c'mon down to the WW division!

I like this fight a lot, I think Pierce will send Palhares his walking papers...

They can't possibly put this on the prelim portion of the card?? Can they, I see 7 strong fights for a 6 fight main card.

Welterweight bout: Demian Maia vs Jake Shields
Welterweight bout: Erick Silva vs Dong Hyun Kim
Featherweight bout: Rony Jason vs Jeremy Stephens
Light Heavyweight bout: Thiago Silva vs Matt Hamill
Light Heavyweight bout: Fábio Maldonado vs Joey Beltran
Bantamweight bout: Raphael Assunção vs TJ Dillashaw
Welterweight bout: Rousimar Palhares vs. Mike Pierce

Featherweight bout: Hacran Dias vs Rodrigo Damm
Flyweight bout: Iliarde Santos vs Chris Cariaso

"It’s a wrestilng vs. jiu-jitsu match in Barueri, Brazil.

Mike Pierce looks to extend his winning streak to five when he faces dangerous grappler Rousimar Palhares at UFC Fight Night 29 on Oct. 9. Sources close to the situation confirmed the match-up to MMAFighting.com. Lance! first reported the bout.

Pierce, 32, returns to the Octagon three months after dominating David Mitchell at UFC 162, stopping "Daudi" with punches in the second round. It was Pierce’s eight knockout win in MMA, the second during his four-fight winning streak.

Palhares, one year older than Pierce, makes his welterweight debut after back-to-back TKO losses to Alan Belcher and Hector Lombard. He also had a positive test for elevated testosterone levels in his drug test after losing to Lombard. The losses snapped his three-fight winning streak, which included submission victories over David Branch and Mike Massenzio."

Interesting fight, I'm enjoying this match up. I'm a fan of both guys, I kind of hope Palhares wins there are some good match ups for him at WW.

Pierce is a solid fighter. I am a Palhares fan but it will be tough. One aspect going for Palhares is Pierce's game is to clinch, that isn't a great idea when Palhares can drop for a leg.

Could be an interesting fight. One is on a 4 fight win streak. The other is on a 2 loss streak. haha.

I've said it before, Pierce gives anyone besides GSP tough fight, his fights with Kos, Hendricks, and Fitch prove this.

Palhares has always been one of the most overrated fighters out there and at 170 he'll be gassed within a minute and fold like he always does. I doubt he even makes the weight.

Pierce via tko and Palhares is finally cut.

I agree its a tough fight for Palhares. I don't think he has the takedowns to get Pirece down, as he is an amazing defensive wrestler.

Pierce is a better striker and has a lot of power. its an interesting fight

I'd bet rather heavily on Pierce blasting Palhares into the middle of next week.

Palhares should make weight, I assume he's done a test cut during his suspension. It's just between this fight, the Kennedy/Machida fight and Henderson/Belfort the matchmaking has been absurd.

Make the WW division great again
