Okami is a top fighter but he is a prime example of the mythical creature effect. In his title shot, Okami came in composed but after feeling Silva's power and timing he just wilted and gave in to Silva.

I disagree, I think it was Anderson just doing his thing successfully before anyone figured him out. Seemed like Okami was coaxed into it by Anderson letting Okami think he could hit him.

I just watched the fight again. Anderson had a real drive to finish Okami especially being in his native Brazil. Okami fought with a gameplan and used a lot of his skills in the first round. After Okami got hit with power at the end of the first round he wilted. In the second round Okami fully was doubting himself and was a different fighter succumbing to Silva's deserved hype.

Anderson Silva said in an interview during the Cw fight he was doing things he never did before, ie was dodging but wasn't hitting back.

Silva allowed the fight to get into the clinch where Okami had to realize that his wrestling is not on Sonnen's level and he couldn't take Silva down, instead he caught some of Silva's devastating knees to the body. I think that's when Okami broke. He realized he couldn't take him down and striking wise he had no chance either.

Good for Chris that he thinks he is better than Silva. The problem is that he is not. I don't think the 2nd fight will end up like the 1st.
