Teixeira can hang with anyone at LHW, including Jones.

I really don't get how people can be into MMA enough to post discuss it online and still say things like, "I;m not sure about Glover still..."

How does that even happen?

I like MMA less because of this forum

Point taken, he doesn't quite have the resume yet but the talent is undeniable.

Still the LHW division is cleaned of contenders and Tex isn't getting any younger, dude is 33. That's probably why they're fast-tracking and high-ranking him a little bit.

Among the guys he's wrecked have been a top 10 (at the time) in Rampage and some solid names like Te Tuna, Kingbury, Maldonaldo, Sokoudjou, and Ricco. If he adds another top 10 in Bader to that list, it's a pretty decent resume.

He has yet to show a single vulnerability in his chin, wrestling, TDD, cardio or sub defense. He has bricks for hands and decent mix of technique and aggression standing, Olympic wrestling creds even if from a non wrestling powerhouse country, and a 2nd degree black belt in BJJ. Even his mental game is solid; the guy never talks trash, gives respect but never awe, never looks flustered/scared/angry/eager whatever. Just goes in there, does his job and does it well, that's a tough guy to break.

While other top LHW contenders like Davis or Gustaf have looked one dimensional or vulnerable in some areas, Glover has shown no such weaknesses. That's why he's ranked so high in spite of lacking top 5 wins.
Gotta agree with every word ....can't see tex losing this in any area

Because some people realize he still hasn't fought top competition and because some of us don't jump on the nuts of any fighter with a good record outside of the UFC...

Teixeira looks like he has the goods to be a top fighter at LHW but until he beats a top 5 fighter you can't consider him to be one imo. So far the only fighter of any note that he has beaten was Rampage who hasn't looked good in years...

Honestly I think the UFC has been grooming Teixera for a title shot. This fight against Bader is yet another good match up for Teixera as long as he doesn't get out wrestled.

Lol, that is weak. I read this kind of post and pretty much see either a bona fide contrarian or someone who doesn't understand what is clearly there to see in front of them. That the reason someone like you has this greatly outlying minority opinion is because everybody else are just a bunch nuthuggers for non-ufc fight records? Get real dude. Everyone, well just about everyone anyways, sees the value in Golver as a pro because of his ability to exert his talents in the cage against all comers unshook. Constant, arbitrary resetting of the bar after each of his outings by people who haven't figured it out yet really doesn't change a thing about that.

Unfortunately the UFC needs new title contenders, so guys are getting flung to the top.
Would we rather see Rashad and Shogun continue to fight for titles? At some point you have to give others guys a chance. Who is your top 10 at LHW then?

1. Bones
2. Gustaf
3. Machida
4. Tex
5. Rashad
6. Phil Davis
7. Sonnen
8. Bader
9. Lil Nog
10. Thiago Silva?

Gustaf is getting his shot now.

Rashad was destroyed by Bones and has done nothing to warrant any more title talk now.

Machida is a 185er now shouldn't even be on the list.

Sonnen got ragdolled by Bones.

Phil Davis is a contender by default.

Bader got destroyed by Bones and hasn't done anything to warrant title talk.

Lil Nog has been hurt, really only had one good win over Rashad.

Thagio Silva isn't a contender.

So really how can anyone be flung up to the elite? There is no one left to challenge.

Actually it is based on experience in having watching many non UFC fighters with padded resumes supposedly considered top fighters in the world come into the UFC and get destroyed once facing good opponents.

Diaz, Overeem, Hioki, Shields, Cro Cop, Abedi, Lombard, Akiyama, Gomi and more.

I stick with the tried and true method of waiting for a fighter to prove himself against top competition instead of just jumping on their nuts because it is the cool thing to do.

Also you are acting like I called Glover a horrible fighter or something... I said he is good, he is easily top 10 but so far hasn't faced any opponent to be able to rank him top 5 and be considered what I consider to be a top LHW fighter let alone the division champion that some people think he will be...

Then give us your top 10. Machida isn't even in the division. Rashad will be in your top 5 based on name.

You guys are saying pretty much the same thing in different ways...

Sonnen, Belfort, Gus and Teixeira all have/had little to no wins over the best fighters at LHW(Machida, Evans, Davis etc). They are being thrown to Jones after getting 1 win over a solid opponent because there is no real true contenders.

Honestly I like it better this way anyways as it keeps things fresh. Constantly having fighters pitted against each other for contendership matches just muddies the division and makes picking a challenger even harder.
