Why would anyone want to see a 3rd match? Pettis has his number, beat him decisively via UD and Sub.

Grant is next in line, but the thought of Pettis vs. Aldo is quite enticing. Just imagine the standup war we'd witness. I hate to say this, but I'd favour Pettis as Aldo gasses in the Championship rounds. Had he faced champ* material in those previous fights (Homenick & KZ), he'd probably have lost.

I don't think Pettis is going to much of a champ, not because of his skill he is the best in his weight class. I just think he is going to stay injured all the time and never going to be able to fight. In a one round fight he injured his knee again. IMO we will be lucky to get one fight a year.

Without question should be TJ Grant. Coming off a KO of Gray Maynard, any other fight for him is a step down imo.

He's only been in the division for 2 years, waiting a year won't hurt him. It will only help him establish himself more and gain fans.

Melendez, Henderson, Thomson, and Miller are all ranked ahead of Maynard he has fights at LW.

1. It keeps in line with the trend of moving up a weight class for a title shot after a loss.

I still say Pettis won that fight 30-27.

I don't think tj grant is #1 contender as someone else mentioned earlier in this thread he was next up for bendo because bendo had already beaten everyone else.
That being said I think a pettis / gil Melendez fight kooks very interesting and dont count iut frankie edgar moving back up for an immediate title shot

He is still considered the number one contender. Gil has a fight lined up, but I could see him or TJ getting the shot against Pettis. (If/when Gilbert beats Sanchez) I don't think Pettis vs. Aldo should happen yet. Let Pettis get some defenses under his belt. He has only won his last 4 fights, one being an ehh split decision win over Jeremy Stephens. How long will Pettis' injury put him out for though?

I don't understand why the hell some people are saying that Benson doesn't deserve a rematch. He was the defending champion beating people right and left. Just because he lost to PEttis (marginally in WEC) doesn't mean he shouldn't get a rematch for the title.

Unless there is a superfight between PEttis and Aldo, the next fight for PEttis should be Benson. Without a doubt.
