Pettis should defend the belt a few times before we start talking champ vs champ.

But if, IF, Aldo makes the move to 155 then I probably wouldn't bitch if he got a straight title shot as he has beaten former 155 champs.

Only edgar, Aldo should fight a top 3 guy and then Pettis. He may stink at 155

I'd like to see Pettis go back to what he wanted before, cut the weight and fight Aldo.

TJ grant is my #1 contender at LW, but any fight of Adlo vs Pettis takes precedence for me.

Order of the fights I'd like to see Pettis in next
vs Aldo at 145
vs Grant
vs Aldo at 155
vs Melendez after he destroys Sanchez
vs Dos Anjos
vs Winner of Healy vs Nurmagomedov
vs Henderson III

My LW rankings
1 Pettis
2 Melendez
3 Chandler
4 Grant
5 Henderson
6 Maynard
7 Dos Anjos
8 Nurmagomedov
9 Thomson
10 Alvarez
11 Healy
12 Masvidal
13 Jury
14 Diaz
15 Cowboy

Honest question, if Pettis cuts the weight and moves down and Aldo beats him then what? Does Pettis get a rematch at 155?

Assume Pettis has a great cut and it's not the extra 10lbs that make him look bad and get beat.

Henderson got owned twice, and much worse obviously in the second fight. And I'm not really a big fan of Pettis dropping down in weight. Cutting weight can affect fighters and may be detrimental to his cardio and strength.

Aldo may want to consider moving up, but he's also taking a risk doing that.

I'd say let Pettis take on the lightweighs for a while. He hasn't even defended his belt once yet. Too early to be talking about superfights for him.

TJ Grant? That's your answer? The rest of your claim makes zero sense. Just because someone loses early that doesn't mean shit. Also Pettis' ground game is amazing so I don't know what you're trying to get at with the striker comment...

The way I see it, barring Pettis, Ben is the best fighter in the division and since he's been defending successfully his title up until Pettis, he is deserving of at least an attempt to reclaim it. If he loses that, then by all means go to the next guy. But let's not talk about Ben as if he's some average dude that simply happened to have gotten the belt by chance or something.
This is simple it's like the Liddell/rampage situation. The fight wasn't close they are not split pettis has won both fights and the second was more convincing. The former champ does not automatically get a rematch unless it was controversial or he is like Anderson silva who was absurdly dominant. Bendo is not Anderson

Yeah, I agree with that. I don't think the demand for a rematch between Henderson and Pettis is big at all. If it was as closely contested as their first encounter, then that is another story.

It's not like Henderson looked like an unstoppable force. He barely split decisioned 2 of his 3 title defenses and many think he lost those. Now he is 0-2 against Pettis. That's not a precondition to raise much interest in an immediate rematch.

Uh....hopefully we never see Bendo vs. Pettis again. Pettis won via decision and one in the first round, what else is there to prove? A trilogy is supposed to break a tie.
