Anthony Pettis vs TJ Grant

Personally i think Pettis should handily take this, Grant is a big powerful guy but Pettis is too fast and if he can sub benson he will sub Grant

I think Grant is always dangerous, but I think Pettis is the superior fighter.

If Ricardo Almeida couldn't submit him, Hendricks couldn't knock him out I am done writing off Grant after what he did to Maynard at 155 he is a beast. On Paper Pettis wins but there are a lot of intangibles and I for one refuse to forget how Guida beat Pettis. I would put the fight at 60-40 in favor of Pettis.

Very well said... T.J. is just a pure sleeper at 155. He just doesn't look like much, but damn he's got the total package at this weight.

Grant should be that heavy an underdog in this fight, he wrecked Maynard like no one else could, he's very dangerous and I hope this fight happens. It needs to happen more than Pettis/Aldo.

Thank you for this. The whole "Pettis submitted Henderson so he should be able to submit Grant" argument is sort of flawed. I'm not saying he can't, but he doesn't all of a sudden have an unstoppable submission game off of his back. Guida and Stephens managed to not get submitted when grappling with him, so I can easily see Grant avoiding the sub as well, he's a very well rounded fighter and a beast like Toxic said. Pettis should be a clear favorite, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Grant picked up the win. He's a guy to pay attention too. If the odds are great, I think he'd be a good one to bet on. He seems to have a great chin and good submission defense so he won't be easy to put away.

I still consider Maynard a beast at 155. (A fresh Gray slaps the so called "uncrowned UFC lightweight champion", Frankie Edgar around the octagon) What Grant did to Gray in their fight shouldn't be over looked. Like I said, Pettis should be the favorite, but don't write off Grant.

QFT, it is so hard to overlook his accomplishments. Pettis is legit, but no one should overlook Grant.

I'm with you guys, I think this is a bigger fight then Bendo vs Pettis 2 really. From the media/normalcy standpoint, Benson as the defending champ, 7-0 in the UFC, fighting the last guy to beat him for the WEC title in their last match with a drama cage kick from Pettis who has been hot, exciting and fitting a fan support demo, Bendo vs Pettis 2 was much bigger. But from my perspective of, these two men are going to simply fight, I think this is much better. I love the styles meeting. Grant is gonna try to mess up Pettis bad, not secure a won a match against him, that will play into a fight Pettis might prefer. Should be exciting.

I agree with pretty much everything that's been stated so far. I expect Pettis to be a pretty clear favorite in this one, but stylistically, I think this fight is more interesting than Bendo-Pettis. I just think Pettis has Bendo's number. I also think there's no question that this is a tougher fight for Grant than what Bendo would've presented.

I've been on the T.J. Grant train since his move to LW, but seeing as how this fight likely won't happen for at least another 4-5 months (Pettis reportedly out for 2 months), I really think the long layoff will further hurt Grant's chances.

I'll be rooting for Grant and I expect a very good tilt, and it wouldn't surprise me if this one went the distance but I'll be picking Pettis in this one.

Yah I thought Grant was a welter weight. Don't remember enough of his fights to comment on it, but his fight against Maynard surprised the heck out of me.

Good thing it's a five rounder. I'm pretty sure Grant will look to close the distance immediately and look for a submission. Very interesting fight. I'd favor Bendo over Grant because of his athleticism and strength. Pettis is far more versatile, but Grant is extremely strong.

Age old contest of keeping his distance vs someone who wants to close the distance. Sturdy test for the newly crowned champion.
