Nah, his wrestling is too good for it to look like that.

that would be a good bjj match if it actually got to he ground. maia's stand up is well behind jacare's, so if it didn't go to the ground it would end much like okami.

on the ground... who knows; maia's tricky and jacare is determined. would be a wonder to see.

Perception is a funny thing and so is the quality of MMA journalism. A guy over at bjpenn, com wrote an article using the exact same information but the title of his story is Jacare Souza Changes Tune, Would Fight Teammate Anderson Silva For Title

which is what Jacare really said.

It's like the author over at mmajunkie didn't bother to read his own article. I wonder if the OP or anyone else at MMAforum did?

Update.

It appears that Souza and his camp are planning to move up to LHW and they want a fight with Phil Davis.

Ronaldo Jacare came so impactful to the UFC , and after only two fights since the figure heads of the middleweight ( 84kg ) . The division , however , is with some pending at the time : the champion , Chris Weidman , give a rematch to Anderson Silva on December 28 , and Vitor Belfort will likely face the winner of that duel. One possible opponent for Alligator following is the winner of Michael Bisping x Mark Munoz, taking place on October 26 , but to get to the belt athlete XGym need patience . Thinking about it , the main coach Alligator , Josuel Distak , hatched a plan to keep the pupil in action in the near future and revealed in a conversation with Combate.com :

- We want a fight in the 93kg category . Let us prove to the world that the Alligator 93kg fight the same way as in the 84kg category . We want to keep the alligator in the medium and test it in the category above . The Alligator fight the two and will be ready for when the UFC makes the call on any of them .

After debuting in organizing the event Jaragua do Sul - SC with a submission win over Chris Camozzi , living up to its great history in jiu -jitsu , Alligator showed that is also very well standing wins Japan's Yushin Okami by TKO in the first round . If the UFC fighter agree to testing in the category above , suggests Distak American rival Phil Davis to :

- I think Phil Davis would make a great fight against Jacare . As I say , by the force of the hand and footprint, the Alligator is the Mike Tyson of MMA . It's a guy who goes in and puts his hand . And was unhurt . Actually he got hurt ( foot and hand in the fight against Okami ) beating , getting into those front blunt . If Brazil was expecting a show of jiu -jitsu Alligator , saw a show of MMA . We 're still 80 % . Let's get to 100 % .

The coach praised the growth of Ronaldo Jacare in all areas and also the actual work done with the fighter . Distak says have proven to be the best coach in the world :

- I rode that strategy because he wanted to prove that the Alligator is an MMA fighter and I 'm a better coach MMA world . I do not want anyone to know how the alligator comes to the next fight. For the first fight we came with jiu -jitsu . Now we come to the boxing. So is secret. Depends on the opponent coming . The Alligator will be a new Brazilian idol . I do not see another like Alligator coming around with this evolution in MMA - said Distak , which put even Glover Teixeira , Jose Aldo , Jon Jones and Gilbert Melendez as the best fighters in the world today in terms of evolution in MMA .

I think Souza would get him self knocked out, he will start to slug it out if he can't get silva down.

Would have been an issue 2-3 years ago but Silva has 2 or 3 fights max in him , I think he will beat Weidman in a rematch fight Bisping in a sell out in the UK and probably fight Belfort in Brazil for his swan song.

Bisping Fan extraordinaire

Velasquez will be back

Andy knows all of Jacare's go to moves grappling like the back of his hand after being training partners for this long so I doubt he would get the sub. Jacare has more of a control game on the mat anyways. In a 5 round fight Andy probably knocks out Jacare. Especially late in the fight since Jacare does not have the gas tank to grapple for 5 rounds.
