Overeem vs Mir set for UFC 167

Quote:
Heavyweight superstars Alistair Overeem and Frank Mir will look to get back on track when they face each other in a pivotal bout on November 16th's UFC 167 card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

A former Strikeforce, Dream, and K-1 World Grand Prix champion, Overeem owns wins over Brock Lesnar and Fabricio Werdum, but recent defeats to Antonio Silva and Travis Browne have him seeking redemption in Las vegas. Also trying to get back in the win column will be former two-time heavyweight champion Mir, a submission wizard coming off a defeat against Josh Barnett at UFC 164.
Well at least one of them will finally get a win. I think it's safe to say this will be Mir's last fight ever tho. Don't see how he could possibly win this.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.

This card is looking solid!

GSP-Hendricks
Sonnen-Evans
MacDonald-Lawler
Overeem-Mir
Koscheck-Woodley

I think Edgar makes it on here too, hopefully against Swanson, that will push Koscheck vs Woodley to the prelims

Ufc Events Attended:

Ufc Fight Night: Davis Vs Nogueira, Ufc 131, Ufc 143, Ufc 148, Ufc on Fox 5, Ufc 156, Ufc on Fox 8

I hope not. Edgar doesn't deserve someone on a roll like Swanson. Edgar should get Poirier while Swanson gets either Lamas or the next shot at Aldo.

EDIT: Edgar vs Lentz. Make it happen UFC.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.

If Mir can survive the onslaught once it starts (doubt it since he tends to wilt) then Overeem will gas himself again. My reaction is to say 'Easy fight for Overeem' but I said that about his last 2 fights and look how they turned out. I guess this fight is Overeems to lose, and based on recent history that wouldn't be a surprising outcome.

Mir REALLY needs to stay from clinching and being pushed against the cage in this fight....sadly he will tho

Yes, all going according to plan.

I enjoy every Mir fight because he usually gets hurt somewhere along the line OR he pulls out some kind of crazy submission.

Only way Overeem loses is if he allows Mir to charge in. Overeem is soooo slow. He was pretty quick at LHW, he's significantly stronger now, but man he just plods along waiting to get hit.

Overeem should win, but NO MORE bets on him. Frankly I think the loss of PED has shot his confidence down. People on that tend to be very amped up with prolonged endurance and it actually plays into their confidence giving them the feel of invincibility. Even Armstrong admitted that he would have never won the race without it. I still view em as a hero for his comeback, but it's really too bad it happened that way. It really is .

Now I'm even more excited about the card. They should be co-main event! Not too crazy about Sonnen and Evans.

Marcus Aurelius: Tell me again, Maximus, why are we here?
Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

Baked, not fried... the healthy choice.

I was thinking the same thing but he's never shown heart in his fights and I don't see him starting now. Yea, he had that comeback against Nog but Nog went for the submission instead of the TKO and it cost him. Not to mention Nog isn't known for his power or ferocity. Overeem, on the other hand, is known almost purely for the two.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.

Mir would crack under the pressure and barrage Bigfoot and Browne were. I'm not overly confident on Overeem anymore though.

Glad to see a quick matchup though.
