I didn't really care either way but I'd blame the ref for this one.

Palhares is clearly the type of guy who doesn't give a shit about taps or screams or whatever and is only going to stop when the referee pulls him off. He's well within his right to do that as well. The ref was out of position and slid to the right of Palhares and grabs Pierce's leg instead of Palhares' arm...which is just beyond stupid....clearly the result of inadequate training.

As soon as the ref is laying on top of him he should have released. There is no way he couldn't have know it was over, he is being slapped on the leg. Piece is screaming and the ref is pushing his head into his arm. He held it a good 3 or 4 seconds after he should have released. I would venture to say most decent fighters would have released a second or two before that. As soon as they see the ref running in sliding toward him and I am sure yelling to stop. The guy is a dick.

Palharres is a total piece of shit.

He has a history of doing this kind of thing and it is potentially career ending for his opponent.

If you really study his face. His eyes are empty. Something missing there. Good win, but will the commission fine him.

Would be a fallacy cuz that was a sweet transition into his signature move. This falls in line of the mantra of "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times."

Ronda is the other and before them was Ken Shamrock with his heel hook sub.

What I think is weird is that he tapped..
Palhares performed a heelhook, but for the heelhook to be accurate the leg needs to be bent..
But it looks like Pierce's leg is almost entirely straight

It doesn't necessarily need to be bent. It gives you more leverage against your opponent's knee, but even with a straight leg it can get twisted.

Besides, the leg was bent:

and pierce was limping afterwards. So not really surprising that he tapped

Well it sure does more damage when bent..

Yeah, the ref shouldn't be going in there trying to break the lock with his head. He looked like a complete noob in there.

Would like to know how/if Pierce is injured.
