People can blame the ref all they want. The fact is, any seasoned, or even remotely seasoned BJJ practitioner knows the difference between someone striking you while in a submission and someone tapping out. Also, words like "stop" which I'm pretty sure you can see Pierce say tend to cross language barriers.
Bottom line, Palhares is the douche here... whether he truly is slow mentally, or the ref ****ed up... he is the ass hole no matter how you cut this cake.
I can't ******* stand this idiot Palhares, and holding yet ANOTHER submission after the ref tried to break it up doesn't make me more of a fan. I truly wish to see this ignorant **** have a few of his own bones broken before he retires.
Palhares knew Pierce was tapping and that the ref was about to try break the hold, but he held on purposely because his IQ is the equivalent of his age. Anyone not legally retarded would have let the hold go when Pierce tapped.
Nobody denies that Palhares hold for too long and should have let go on his own earlier, but exactly for those cases when a fighter goes retard and endangers the other fighter's health, the ref should know what to do to stop the danger and this ref obviously didn't. There were two problems in that cage, Palhares AND the ref.
Honestly, if you didn't watch any interviews or build up and you only saw his fights you would think he has a mental disability. It's only a matter of time until he seriously injures somebody due to holding on too long.
If you really study his face. His eyes are empty. Something missing there. Good win, but will the commission fine him.
I know I just said in another thread Maldonado is not well in his head, but you all got what goes on with Rousimar. He is an animal. He should indeed have his mental condition looked into by the commission, because I truly believe he does not quite understand what he is doing or its consequences. It's like blaming a raging Pit Bull for not letting go from someones calf. Believe me, when you listen to the guy in Portuguese, he sound as simple and shallow as a neanderthal and it is clear he is not even close to be an educated person.
Problem lies on the fact he is an uncontrolled monster who will end up hurting someone for life.
Well, maybe there's an alternative for the next referees who will have the mission to stop a psycho like him:
"Although no one can go back and make a new beginning, anyone can change now and make a new end."
