UFC made a mistake with Palhares

They should have let him go after being KO'd by Lombard losing 2 fights straight, rather then yet another injury inflicting leg attack against Pierce. If Okami and Fitch that were ranked higher were let go after one loss, Palhares could have certainly been released after two straight losses. That would definitely make the UFC look much better.

Following: Cain , JDS, Werdum, Shogun, Machida, Weidman, Pettis, Aldo, Melendez

To most people, I don't think the UFC looked bad for letting Palhares go...

The UFC won't miss him and honestly it's a good PR move (and just a good move in general as the guy can really hurt someone after the fight is already over).

People thought his recklessness deserved as much before the Pierce fight. It's a loose dichotomy between being a dangerous person and a successful MMA fighter. By and large it's not out of line to say the overwhelming majority of MMA fighters do not exhibit the same fight finishing behavior that Palhares does, occasional there are submission related injuries but the level of controversy regarding the releasing of submission holds is almost non existent compared to how it is for just this one individual, it's not everyone else, it's him. He is good at his job but he is unsafe and a danger to his competitors outside the scope of his job, even if that is two seconds away from the job. Those are two seconds when he is not authorized or licensed to do his job. The reason doesn't matter so much, weather he "blacks out" like his manager claimed, has bad intentions, has sight and hearing deficiencies which don't allow him to be aware of what he does, none of it matters, the danger he creates for others does.

I like MMA less because of this forum

This.

It's a great PR move. Especially with regards to New York.
'MMA is barbaric, a blood bath' and all that jazz. Well, here was a guy the UFC thought could really injure someone so they let him go.

They win.

This is isn't thread worthy, but did anyone actually read the original post before typing? The OP is saying that Paul Harris should have been cut earlier than he was, as in before the Pierce fight. Not that the cut was bad.

Yep, I read it; Just ignored it. My post was based on the video of Dana saying Paul Harris was cut, turned out pretty sweet for the UFC, really. Especially with Ballator and the ADCC agreeing.
