imo the UFC wants the sport to be just the UFC and thats all.
The UFC has been all about being more mainstream but thats about a future of UFC and millions of fans and a sport soley made around the UFC. The UFC`S biggest threat is mma as a sport. The UFC has made no real moves in making MMA an official sport like boxing. Its all just about the UFC.

They were rubbish and thats why they got dismantled.

If your theory held true they never would have kept the WEC as long as they did or dump talented fighters into it or Strikeforce. Hell fans were pissed at Dana for signing fighters to strikeforce because showtime is such a pain in the ass to deal with.

Pride could have been successful but the company was ran into the ground by one specific individual.

Pancrase and Shooto both ended up feeding pride. All three had fixed fights and I can say that at least for me at the time, I was a K1/UFC fan because they appeared to be better regulated and more of a sport. Anything Yuji Shimada and Nobuyuki Sakakibara had their hands in was dirty IMO and at one point that was most if not all of MMA.

If pride was so healthy then why sell it at all? I mean Im not sure why you would sell a thriving cash cow...

How is the UFC any different than boxing? You sound a tad behind on the state of MMA, I think you need to do some research. Also the UFC continually holds up some sports that would fall flat if the UFC did not fund them and the UFC helps other amature sports. Nobody is going to claim boxing would be dead without MMA but Dana does fund amiture sports on local levels that have nothing to do with combat sports, of coarse its all a write off but they still do it so take it for what you want.

UFC isn't at all like the WWE. Your example was just comparing two monopolies who buy out competition, but that is millions of companies in history, lol.

WWE is consistently more popular than UFC ever will be but they have different goals and business models that can't be compared.

Totally thought this thread would be more about the WWE-esque trash talking that some fighters do.

The UFC makes more money than the WWE and has for a wile now if I remember right. For better or worse wrestling is marketed for children.

Better eat your vitamins hulkamaniacs!

How sure are you about that? WWE runs multiple shows a week.

Found this on a wrestling forum dated last year.

Last year they(WWE) promoted 321 live events. Approximately 117 of those were TV tapings/PPVs.
