UFC gets more pay-per-view buys than the WWE (outside of Wrestlemania which nowadays beats all the UFC ones).

WWE gets like 4+ million people weekly to watch on Monday night, and over 2+ million people to watch on Fridays. Plus all the people on YouTube, Hulu, etc. They draw anywhere from 8-15 thousand people for all of these shows, plus thousands of people on weekend live events. Add in all the merchandise, advertising, amount networks pay them, etc.

Granted WWE's expenses are loads more than the UFC's, but they have revenue coming from so many ways that the UFC could only dream of.

Exactly. Pretty much a better description of what I was trying to say.

Found this on a wrestling forum dated last year.
The UFC is global and Id be suprised if they aren't competitive in merchandise sales. I looked for some updated data as well but couldn't find much that I could quote one way or the other so maybe Im wrong but Id still be surprised.

You think the UFC is more popular Globally then the WWE?

So far international crowds are riveted. WWE stages about 80 live events overseas each year, selling out shows from León, Mexico, to Lyon, France, with ticket prices averaging $70. It has also created a global fan culture. Japanese crowds, who used to clap politely, now imitate American audiences, chanting “you suck” when a villain appears.

No, not really.

WCW spent themselves into the ground. If the WWE hadn't bought what was left, they would have gone bankrupt. (There's actually a documentary about this.)

PRIDE was effectively dead after revelations about fixed fights, and Strikeforce was a regional promotion. And there certainly isn't LESS mma as a result of the UFC's acquisitions.

No way. Dana has the perfect gig for Dana. He doesn't have to be over-the-top like Vince McMahon, or get in the ring himself. He's the front man for Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta. Meaning he gets to wear sneakers and swear, and run the sports side of the UFC. For a guy who wanted to be a fight promoter, it's a dream come true.

I actually have not given pro wrestling a second glance other than pausing before flipping to another channel for thirty years so Im definitely not an authority on their business. I will say that as an adult its the worst, I cant stand it so Im definitely bias.

Still the OP doesn't make a lot of sense. Boxing and MMA are regulated by athletics commissions (so is pro wrestling last I checked) and I dont see how the UFC has failed to do anything that boxing has done for their perspective sports.

To change regulations you have to change legislation regardless of which sport your promoting boxing or MMA. I actually know that MMA has made many more strides (and with greater effort than boxing has in years) to update the sport but they run into red tape and corrupt athletic commissions so the process is slow.

The NFL, NBA, NHL, are all monopolies, I dont see a issue with that compared to the alternative we have in combat sports. Its not the UFC that is failing combat sports its the sanctioning body's.

WWE is years ahead of the UFC globally. Go ahead and see who is known by more people Royce Gracie or Hulk Hogan. It's not a fair comparison, the WWF was founded in 1952. Video games, movies, TV shows, merchandise, the WWE(F) brand has been out there for years. Long before the UFC came around. They have a hell of a head start.

I stopped watching in 7th grade. But I was playing the video games on Nintendo when I was a kid. The brand has been around a long time now.

I have to concur. The UFC is growing, but it's nowhere near the WWE yet. And that's not their target anyway. Their aim is to slide into the #3 worldwide sport behind football (soccer) and basketball. The WWE competes with Broadway.

The WWE is run way better and actually know how to make ppv draws and characters and good promos and posters. The reason why the UFC is working well is because there is no real competition and they pretty much have all the best talent.
