Is the UFC too much like the WWE

The UFC buys out major rivals and the closes them down like what happened too WCW. Also Dana White acts like abit of a Vince McMahon wannabe.

As long as the actual fights are real, who cares.

Dana wishes he was Vince.

It's getting there.

WWE is a successful company that has been around for a long time. Obviously something about their business model is working.

This. I don't even really read interviews much anymore and ignore most of the crap pre fight. Before I followed everything like a hawk, now I simply tune on fight night.

I just think that for years the UFC has been wanting to be more main stream. But should the UFC now be aiming at creating a more unified sport interms of standard rules etc

The UFC has nothing to do with making any rules. They choose to follow the unified rules. They are not part of any rule changes.

Your statement ignores other facts that happened as well. When WWE bought WCW it was because the WCW was for sale and about to just go belly up. There were some people trying to make a play for it but none of them could secure the funding.

Almost the exact same situation for PRIDE and StrikeForce. No one wanted to touch PRIDE because of the bad press/rep it had gotten, and no one could secure the funding for StrikeForce so the UFC bought both.

Your statement makes it sound like they were out actively trying to pursue these options when instead they just took advantage of opportunities that went their way. It's called how to successfully run a business.

The fact is UFC bought both Pride fc and strikeforce too shut them down, eliminating competition.
