UFC Negotiating For Ortiz-Shamrock III

Sunday's Las Vegas Review-Journal features quotes from Dana White that confirm UFC's interest in a third Ken Shamrock vs. Tito Ortiz fight.

"The way that fight ended the last time (stunk), and we care about our fans and our customers," White said. "They were booing and throwing (things) and I've never experienced anything like that before. It was a bad scene."

The fight was stopped in Tito Ortiz's favor after one minute and eighteen seconds. Although Ortiz was clearly winning, MMA fans almost unanimously condemned the stoppage as premature, noting that Ken Shamrock was far from "out."

White is eyeing an October Spike TV special for the fight as a courtesy to disappointed fans who paid $39.95 to see their bout last month.

Neither Ortiz nor Ken Shamrock had agreed to terms at press time.

I'd be impressed if Tito fought this soon. He always seems to kind of make excuses about his training. Although he did say this is the best training he ever had and he wasnt hurt at all.

What is it that is going to be on your mind when you're on your death bed? Will it be the tedious years of 9 to 5, or the memory of some great acheivement. Maybe a moment you stood in glory to the applause of millions.

Thumbs up

I can't stand Shamrock, so the more losses that blemish his record, the happier I'll be.

Not sure what to think about this yet. Would be interesting that is for sure.

If you put it on Spike tv it would be another great way to let people discover UFC.

I know Tito will be game but is Shamrock going to go for this? During an interview he gave a couple weeks ago, Ken was entertaining the idea that the UFC had set him up to lose, probably to make Ortiz/Shamrock 3. He flat out said that whatever the UFC was planning he wanted no part of it.

LoL, UFC doesn't have to set-up anything for Shamrock to lose. He does a good job of that on his own. Shamrock is in DENIAL, that is the only problem he has, besides being a "has-been". He needs to just sign up for the fight, lose, get paid, and go home...

Yeah...I was reading about this. Sounds interesting. Fact is, lots of people are sick of seeing these two. Tons of people want each fighter to just move on (Shamrock maybe to WFA / Tito's climb to the LHW Title). But, on the other hand, you guys can't deny the fact that if Dana did put this bout on again - MILLIONS would tune in or buy it. Fact.

I also heard him mention this after his last fight - when Couture was interviewing him. It wouldn't suprise me in the least bit if Tito accepted the fight - as long as Slamcock agreed. You know Tito will go again. Truth be told...it would just be an easy way to pad his win-loss record even more. And that is a fact!

They really need to start stealing some of Pride's talent, too many rematches too closely together for the UFC.
