why is nobody talking about Werdum?

I don't understand the talk, for a long time people acted like jds and Cain were on another level than the rest of the he division and with Cain cementing himself above Jds people have lost interest despite the fact that a true challenge lies in wait. Fabricio Werdum is one of the greatest grapplers to ever grace a cage. He has also shown vastly improved dynamic striking and a clinch game that has Proved he can hand out best downs, so why no interest in this relative giant compared to Cain who can threaten him standing with no fear of the td, threaten in the clinch with knees and threaten off his back if put there. Pay attention people he is coming for Cains title.

Thinks it is down to the JDS KO loss. Personally, I think he is a vastly improved fighter to what he was then.

He gives Cain more problems than anyone else in the division IMO.

I think people still have a hard time forgetting about the Overeem fight as well. When it was obvious he couldn't get the fight to the ground he spent the rest of it flopping and literally begging Overeem to come down there with him. I think the same thing happens with Cain. If he can't take Cain down (doubtful he can) then he is stuck standing and striking with Cain who is much faster and cuts better angles than he does.

I don't believe Werdum will be able to hang with Cain where this fight will take place, that place being wherever Cain wants it to. I think the shots JDS took Saturday are the type that will floor Werdum. Now if he plays possum right he could get dropped and lure Cain into something on the ground, but I'd be surprised to see Cain have that type of mental lapse given the scene that unfolded with Werdum's greatest ever victory. I give Werdum a 1 out of 80 chance to win right now.

I like MMA less because of this forum

Because all he really has is his BJJ and he isnt the greatest athlete so struggles to take better guys to the ground and he also has very average striking.

Unless a guy takes him down or goes to ground after him i cannot see him winning many fights against the top fighters in the HW division.

A good example is the Fedor fight he would have had his head taken off if the fight were to continue standing so when a flurry came at him he jumped on his back and to Fedor peril he followed ,guys like Cain and Junior will have seen that and will not even entertain the idea of jumping in.

Im not saying he is a bad fighter because he isnt , his BJJ is world class and even though he has average striking its enough to keep him in a fight and not get blown away.

Big Werdum fan and have backed him as a top HW for years and thought he beat Overeem in their 2nd fight.

He does have world class ground game. But that isn't enough. Sure he has gotten much better at developing a striking game over the years, but he was still getting lit up by Big Nog.

I thought this was a wonderful matchup back when Cain first got his title. Would force Cain to stand. But since then Cain has proven to be superb on his feet, have amazing fight IQ, and obviously out cardio anyone. I see no reason why Cain won't grind him into the cage, beat him up, gas him, and probably finish him. Nog was scoring big time pinning Werdum against the cage. He was winning that fight. I see no reason why Cain can't do the same and finish Werdum.

It's funny how people remember things differently. When I think of that fight I think of that awesome K-1 level striking.

sure to some that may look like Overeems hands are fluttering about in a panicked girl fashion but that's real k-1 champion level defense.

I remember Overeem's legendary knees too

Werdum isn't taking Cain down.

Cain beats him to a pulp against the fence and probably KO's him within a round or two.

I just don't see how he wins other than a hail mary sub.

RIP Jordan Corder. Watch over me from above brother.

I'm with you toxic. Werdum is more of a threat than people think. I don't think he'd have much for jds because his wrestling isn't good enough and his striking while improved is not on jds' level.

However I think he offers Cain a lot of problems. As Cain could get problems on the feet, and taking Werdum down would just be stupid. So I'd say Cain would push him against the fence for three rounds and I don't think Werdums carido would stand up to Cain's pace.

So I think werdum is vert skilled and a threat but I honestly don't see him winning the title after his performance against Nog.
