P4P debate, Cai nVelasquez ranked only 5th

why?
None of his wins have not been even close. Total domination.

#1 Jones had a "who won" fight vs Gus
#3 Anderson Silva was KTFO
#4 Aldo had close fight with Edgar and did not massacre Chan Sung Jung relly until his shoulder broke.

Why cannot Cain be ranked above any of these? He totally destroys anything at heavyweight at the moment.

Because he's a heavyweight. The P4P list is mainly made for lighter guys.

Fedor, Mir, Lytle, Serra, Hendo, Chuck, Minowaman, Maynard, Forrest, Hunt
Pickett, Cerrone, Matt Brown, Bisping, Weidman, Barnett, Lawler

What? The P4P isn't a list made for any particular type of fighter.

Any P4P list without Rob Emerson on it should not be taken seriously imo.

1 GSP
2 Aldo
3 Barao
4 Cain

I have Cain at 4. Imo he is the only fighter at HW with the talent and results to be in the conversation at all.

I like MMA less because of this forum

I guess "made" was the wrong word, but the rankings generally favor lighter guys at the top.

Fedor, Mir, Lytle, Serra, Hendo, Chuck, Minowaman, Maynard, Forrest, Hunt
Pickett, Cerrone, Matt Brown, Bisping, Weidman, Barnett, Lawler

I'd still rank both jones and silva above him, and obviously GSP.

I'd probably have Aldo and Pettis higher than him too and maybe even Barao

Probably because he hasn't beaten anyone outside of jds that people consider noteworthy. Nog was old and slow and Brock was already something most people expected. Also the 61 second KO hurts him, destroy tbe guy twice or not it hurts him.

Plus add the perception that he has a glass jaw and has been rocked a lot and his lack of devestating KO power and it just hurts his stock. P4P is generally turned into a popularity or ranking contest, which isn't what P4P is, its supposed to be a measure of skill if weight were equal. But most times it just becomes a power ranking.

I personally have guys on my P4P list over champs because I believe their pure skill eclipses some champs. I've said it before Jones is top two or three power rankings but more a 6-8 guy P4P. His reach is a huge assest which I don't condemn him for using he'd be dumb not to, but I beleive all physical attributes equal Aldo would make him look like an amateur.

I think the concept is that you are only measuring talent, not size. Any fighter that tends to overpower their opponent is generally excluded from the list. Then again, fighters that simply try to use a size advantage rarely become champions as well. The only UFc champion I can think of off the top of my head that used raw power would have been Brock Lesnar. I think we can all agree that Randy Couture, P4P, is a far better fighter than Lesnar.

In that sense I think Cain has proven that he is an incredibly talented and well rounded fighter. I think if Cain were shrunk down to say 155 pounds he would still be an incredibly effective martial artist.

I'd put him at 4 behind Jones, GSP and Silva. Can't think of anyone else who would be above him, maybe DJ if he destroys Benevidez.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.
