I dont think it's the fact that people think he 'can't' I think it's more down to the fact he has been talking about this for years and never showed any inclination that he would actually do it until this most recent fight where he came in lighter than usual.

The guy has been shitting on Jon Jones whilst still fighting at HW for what seems like an age.

People are right to be sceptical about the cut. It's almost as bad as when Roy Nelson claims to be heading to 205 but never does.

Who wants a cred bet that DCs next fight is at HW and not LHW?!

If you're going to be a turd outside of the cage, you need to at least put on an entertaining show inside.
Cormier is one of the most humble and well spoken fighters in the sport.

I'll take that bet Kilz. Help me with a couple of things. Yes he talks about cutting weight because that's what everyone asks about, but have you listened to what he actually says about it? He's an expert on the subject who almost died from it. Have you ever heard him say anything about it that turned out not to be true? It's only been a year since he won the HW GP did you expect him to drop in the middle of that? Has he ever given a date that he would be 205 and not made it? It seems like your down on the guy because the HW grand prix champion accepted two more HW fights. Has anyone ever offered him a big fight at LHW that he turned down? I'm just an inquiring mind

here's one from 2011 is that what you're referring to?

and I was wondering about an example of him "shitting on Jones." I've heard Jones talk a little junk about him but when did he say anything out of line about Jones?

Honestly, I'm pretty indifferent to him. I know him and Jones had a back and forth but I can't remember exactly what was said.

That being said, Im not sure I've ever heard him talk, only read things about him or things he's said so I'll watch the vids you posted now.
My only experience of DC are his fights and the stuff I read about over the years.

Roy's obviously joking about going to 205. Although I think he knows he can make the cut, his belly fat is a trademark moniker of his and not only does he see it as part of his identity, he sometimes uses it as an advantage.

I think it's unfair to criticize Cormier for not making practice cuts when the guy fights at heavyweight. What is the point of getting down to 205 for one day when you're trying to prepare for a fight against Roy Nelson, a 249 lber, or Frank Mir, someone who might come in weighing 260 lbs? Knowing how long it would take Cormier to make the drop, practice cuts are a waste of time. He wanted to weigh as much as possible while not losing the speed so he doesn't fight at a disadvantage.

He knows he's a small heavyweight and he could fight 205 lbs, so why not talk shit to Jon Jones when in all likely hood, they're probably going to end up fighting anyway? He could be trying to build up the rivalry for as long as possible so when they do meet up in the cage, it will bring a lot more interest on top of what that match-up already has.

People are skeptic about his cut to 205 because cutting to 211.5 nearly shut down his kidneys. Even with his weight down to 224 for the Nelson fight, that's still a lot of loss, and like the guy or not, I don't think anyone wants to see him hospitalized.

Note: Here's a link to an article written about his Olympic withdrawl. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sport...ithdrawn_N.htm
