Rousimar Palhares Finally Admits He Held Submission Too Long

Not sure if I should have created a new thread for this, but it's still nice to hear him finally say he probably held it longer than he should have.

Quote:
“No, I did not want to hurt him. In the heat of the fight I did not feel him tap. Afterwards, when I watched the fight I realized that I held on too long, but I really did not mean to hurt him. He is a fighter like I am and I know he does this for a living and I would never want to hurt him.”
“I think it has a lot to do with my style, I am really aggressive when I go after submissions. There has been times where I do not hold on and people get out and then I lose the fight, I am the way I fight. I’m getting better and been working a lot on this, but, this is my style.”
For the first time since wrenching Mike Pierce’ leg at UFC Fight Night in Brazil, Rousimar Palhares is admitting fault in the highly publicized infraction that cost him his job with the UFC.

well great, Gail, this thread needs to be murk'd!

Addressing that he has a problem that needs to be mitigated is a good step, but he has a long way to go to show something to big fight promoters.

I like MMA less because of this forum

Yeah, he's gonna have to really prove himself if he wants Dana to give him another shot in the big league. This is a beginning. Dana is not all that consistent and might reneg on his ban, Rousimar is a fun fighter to watch.

Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony?

Nice to hear him admit it, but i'm not sure what he can do to change anyone's mind. As a repeat offender he has been told many times this is unacceptable. I feel like Paulharris has had his chance, had his "get out of jail free card" stamped previously. How would the UFC look if they gave him another chance and he ends someones career.

True dat.

There will never be woman's MMA in the Octagon.
Randy isn't coming back.
Tito is banned.
Josh Barnett will never fight in the UFC again.
Frank Shamrock won't be in the UFC HOF.
James Toney will not fight in the UFC.
Fedor is over rated. (Tries his hardest to get him into the UFC...haha.)
Rousimar is banned forever. He'll be back.

Double speak is what we call it.

Showing some contrition is a start.

At least he now has some work. He is facing Dean Lister at the Jiu-Jitsu World Expo 2013

He probably wont be...

mmm if Palhares gets 3-4 wins under his belt without causing a negative stir. I think Dana would let him back.
