I wouldn't be surprised per se. But part of me believes that the Rashad who put on a clinic against Phil Davis still exists. And that would be a challenge. Granted Chael Sonnen beat down Anderson Silva for 4.5 rounds and was moments away from winning the LHW championship off of Jon Jones, so no... I'd not be shocked if he schooled Evans.

From Dana's previous comments, both Rashad and Sonnen move the needle in PPV sales. That's the only reason for the fight. Money. A non-title fight that won;t move either guy to #1 contender, but will probably sell half a mil.

I dont understand how they really move that many PPV's. I think Chaels fights are way more entertaining than Rashads. Rashads are hit and miss in the boring department.

Rashad and Hendo was rather boring, Rashad and Jackson was rather boring and Rashad vs Machida was him getting knocked out. Big Nog....pretty boring. Jones put him to sleep. Phil Davis fight... also Boring. Who is buying Rashad PPV's because nobody I know seems to be that big of a fan. I dont hate him or anything but I cant remember that last time he had a really awesome fight.

Rashad has admitted to be willing to move down to MW if it was for a title shot. But thats beside the point i think.

Im actually really looking forward to this fight. Both great MMA wrestlers 1 is the more athletic the other is more hard working. I really have no idea where this fight will take place or who is taking the win. Im rooting for Chael but this might be a tough match up for him. Though Rashad hasnt exactly been performing that well.

He's also had some bad matchups...

I like me some Chael... but this is a tough fight for him. Solid wrestler with dynamite in his hands.

It is an anniversary card and they are two big names. The winner becomes more relevant. There have been worse....things like Couture vs Coleman and Tito vs Forrest.

^^ HA! Randy coming out to stranglehold and choking Coleman was one of the coolest things ever.

I think this fight might sneak up on everyone and be a FOTY candidate.

isn't it strange though, to have a Sonnen fight this close and not have a parade of well meaning souls starting 5 new threads a day to educate us on what a bad person Chael is.

Rashad has main evented 7 events and 2/5 of those are from 2 events the Rampage event which did huge numbers and when he fought Forrest which had two title fights and Wand/Rampage had 3rd billing. (it was the annual stacked superbowl card)

Chael has main evented 3 PPV's . If you do the math Rashad only averages about 60,000 more PPV buys. Those numbers hardly line up with what I could find which would put Rashad at under 4145000 which would actually make Chael out draw him. (Chael's number lines up with what I could find)
