Has then been a fight that meant less than Rashad Vs Chael?

Just to be clear, this isn't a hate thread whatsoever. I actually am a fan of Rashad's and Chael, believe it or not, grew on me a lot during his time on the ultimate fighter.

But I mean seriuosly! Everyone is already talking about Chael fighting Wanderlei and coaching against him even on TUF Brazil, regardless of the outcome of his fight with Rashad.

Not many people, if any, are clamouring to see Rashad fight Jones again and it's not like beating Sonnen, a man who Jones just tooled something feirce, would put him in that position.

They are both big names, and I am looking forward to it... but it is, in my opinion harder to think of a fight where the outcome meant less to each fighter's career.

I disagree. I think both of them need a high ranked opponent in their win column after both of them losing 2 straight before their most recent wins.

Everyone knows why the UFC is making Wandy and Chael in Brazil happen though. Their isn't a method to the madness. They had Vitor fight Anthony Johnson after the first season. How relevant was that lol.

Yea I have no idea why they made this fight. It isn't a fun or relevant fight. It looks all around awful on paper.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.

Let's be real here, Sonnen isn't looking for a title shot right now (except at MW possibly), so right now he's just focusing on fighting some top guys to get some wins/cash/keep his status relevant in both weight classes. Rashad on the other hand needs a couple of wins to get back to the title shot and beating a guy who just took Shogun out in the first round is a nice step in that direction.

Basically, Rashad wants a W to move up the ladder and Sonnen wants a W for the same reason as everyone - stay relevant, keep your name in the mix and for cash.

It's not the most exciting/interesting fight out there, but it makes sense for both guys in my opinion.

No because with a win Evans would have beaten Henderson and Sonnen which is enough to fight for the MW title. We could see Evans/Machida II for the next crack at Weidman.

This, both fighters need to become more relevant regardless of what direction they might take after the fact. This fight makes sense on a lot of levels.

Except why people think Evans is moving down? This is a LHW fight, Rashad has said he is staying at LHW.

It's Rashad this is the same guy that called out Jon Jones and then pulled out of the fight in a week. If the UFC offered him a title shot at MW he would jump at the chance.

I couldn't care less about this fight. I'm far more excited to see Sonnen stomp Wandy and put him into retirement.

Unless of course Chael beats Rashad, in which case I'll back-pedal and say that it was always a tremendous fight on paper whilst obnoxiously proclaiming that I knew Sonnen would win all along.

Would you really be surprised to see Sonnen stomp Rashad circa 2013? Come on Rashad has looked consistently worse since leaving Jacksons. I fully expect him to run through Rashad at this point.
