Some interesting information regarding these.

The 2nd event of 2005 wasn't until April and you guessed it featured Griffin vs Bonnar. The UFC capitalized on the situation doubling its events later that year and the next.

2 years after the TUF 1 finale the UFC went international heading to England and Ireland.

The UFC returned to Ireland in 2009 but since hasn't gone back.

The UFC went to England 7 times in 3 years but in the past 4 years has only returned 5 times. This can be greatly accounted to Bisping's early success and a lack of other top end English fighters making their mark in the UFC.

The UFC has come to Canada 3 times each year for the last 4 years, in large part these coincide with GSP fighting.

The UFC went to Germany in 2009 and 2010 but has not returned since.

Every year except 2009 since 2005 the UFC has increased the number of events it is holding, in 2009 it had the same amount of events as 2008.

In 2011 the amount of USA events peaked and has slowly been declining in the past couple years.

Also in 2011 the UFC went to Brazil for the first time and has seen substantial growth there the last 2 years including the start of TUF Brazil. This past year Brazil has become the only international country to have more then 3 events in a year.

So far in 2014 the UFC has planned more international events then USA events. With increasing international events, increasing overall events and decreasing USA events this may be the first year that there are more international events then USA events.

Overall the UFC has done a great job growing and expanding their product. They receive a lot of criticism on how they handle business at times but obviously it is working and it seems they know what they are doing.

Unseen in these statistics is how the UFC has also shifted from PPV events to televised events. This will only help them in the future as well since people that may have become sick of paying for PPV's will still enjoy watching UFC events if they are on channels they already pay for.

Nice info...Repped

I against I,
flesh of my flesh,
and mind of my mind,
two of a kind but one won't survive,
my images reflect in the enemies eye,
and his images reflect in mine the same time

I have to spread some rep around before repping you again.

Good thread about an interesting subject. I'd love to get a good look at the UFC's revenues and expenses by region. But that's probably not happening anytime soon.

Personally, I like the trends of more events, more free events, and more international markets, though the time change is sometimes a bummer. I wonder how many events there will be in five years, and just what the breakdown will be.

Some people think that they can convey either a philosophy on life or a complex political statement using a signature on the internet. I'm not one of them.

Earlier in the event today it was mentioned that there are now 395 fighters signed to contracts with the UFC.

With 35 events planned this year that means each fighter on average is only going to fight 2.12 times this year. This falls in line with what Dana and others have been saying about there being too many fighters in the UFC as guys starting out and making the minimum amounts would have a hard time making a living off only fighting twice a year.

2007 - Northern Ireland

2009 - The Republic of Ireland

Two countries, two currencies, two accents.

I predict Diego Sanchez/Cathal Pendred by Split Decision.

Great find, +1 rep!

I agree with really expanding in markets such as: Asia, Europe, plus adding some obscure destinations for certain fights.

Mexico would be huge, plus potentially india/pakistan & China. Getting into Russia would be fabulous too (too bad we missed the Emelianenko era).

I'd love to see UFC here in Moscow, but there're no russian names yet, only prospects seem to emerge right now... if they could somehow make Fedor return to fighting, then things would be interesting. Even though, he would get crushed by the current elite.

Favorite fighters:
1. Badr Hari
2. Remy Bonjasky
3. Mauricio Rua
4. Anderson Silva
5. Alistair Overeem

There are quite some Russians to seep into the UFC at the moment. Not big names yet, but so far they are mostly successful, so we'll see what will happen in the future. Their Combat Sambo seems to be a pretty good base to start MMA.
