Gus is a much quicker and better striker than anyone he has faced. Great TDD and a height/reach adv. Gus would surely test Cormier's chin. He's a much better match up than a Phil Davis. No one wants to see a wrestle off lets be real here.

and Id pick Gus to beat DC.

Jon Jones | Anderson Silva | Urijah Faber | Benson Henderson | Rampage Jackson | Roy Nelson | Shinya Aoki

It wouldn't be a wrestle off, it would be Cormier beating Phil down in every area. he's a much better wrestler, much better striker with real power in his hands. Rashad,Phil and Sonnen are easy match ups for Cormier.

Gus,Glover and Jones are pretty much the only ones he'll have trouble with, even then Jones matches up better for Cormier then the other two.

I think Davis v Cormier would be a lot like Davis v Evans. Pretty snoozie. DC hasnt finished either of his opponents albeit they were both HW (Davis could be a HW honestly). Cormier is an excellent wrestler and he would soundly out-grapple Davis but I just dont see how that match up could be exciting at all let alone as exciting as Gus v DC. Id rather see Glover and Sonnen have a go before Phil.

Cormier wouldn't need to out-grapple Davis though. he's the far superior striker. not finishing Mir is a bit of a knock against Cormier that is kinda acceptable but his domination of Bigfoot and Barnett diminishes it quite a bit.
