Yes, that's at point of impact. The motion of the strike is vertical enough to be illegal IMO but it's trivial now anyway.

The rules don't say anything about vertical elbows being illegal, they just say downward strikes with the tip of the elbow are illegal. Therefore in my opinion (which could be flawed) these elbows were legal. Although they still look illegal from the angle in the gif.

I remember watching what he screenshot shows and those look like legal shots to me.

The rule posted by Oldfan is rather clear, but...

"Striking downward using the point of the elbow"
... the strikes were clearly horizontal or so, never even close to be considered vertical. We must not confuse the arm movement to pick up speed with the actual direction of the impact.

Browne is an excellent HW, that thread stating Bigfoot Silva is a better fighter was good for a chuckle.

No. No. No.

This can't be happening. Not Browne. please no. The dude makes me want to vomit.

Still, the silver lining is that he'll get smeared by Cain sooner or later.

I said in 2012 that Browne could be champion by 2014. I might be jumping the gun still, but wins over Reem & Barnett is impressive. Not sure if he can get past JDS or Cain or come close, but I think he can hold his own against Werdum, which hopefully that fight happens in the next few months.

Because usually the guys that go for the TD turn their face to the opponent and hide behind their back of the head.

Because this time they weren't to the back of the head (in the Gonzage fight 2 or 3 were)

The knee looked like to have rocked him and made him drop to his knees, but he was still going for the TD. The elbows finally put him out.

I think Browne's chances against Dos Santos aren't that bad. He has the reach to keep him and his boxing away, while in contrast to Dos Santos he probably would use kicks to soften him up.
