Thats where my vote went, i think sometimes its easy to forget the great fights that happened early in the year.

I also don't think Hunt vs Silva is the best Mark Hunt fight of the year, never mind best fight overall.

Had to go with Melendez and Diego. It's true it was one sided, but it's one of those rare fights where the under dog was gaining steam albeit absorbing a ton of damage. Another two rounds we could have seen a stoppage or a draw in favor of Diego of course.

Some fighters just need time to warm up. Condit, Cerrone, Leben, and Diego.

I strongly disapprove of Melendez vs Sanchez being the winner. What the f*uck.

Sanchez was made to look like an idiot for 98% of the fight. Dont get me wrong... it was fun. Its always fun when Sanchez loses. But as a fight? Rubbish.

Stann vs Wandy could have gone anywhere at anytime. It was clear from the very first exchange; somebody was getting knocked the feck out. It could have been either of them. It didnt matter. Awesome.

I totally agree that the fight wasnt competitive regarding sanchez and melendez. Melendez was far superior in the stand up, but people respect the heart and desire of sanchez even though he is a little crazy. In a sense he embodies the everyday man that puts his nose to the grind stone. Thats why people love the fight and why it garnered so much attention.

Of course. I agree. As far as entertainment goes, it was good fun.

But really? When somebody asks me what the fight of the year should be, my very first prerequisite is that the fight was competitive. Entertainment comes second.

I found Stann-Silva more entertaining, more competitive, more unpredictable and just a better fight in every way.
