This new thread on the greater story is pretty crazy. Unbelievable almost, sadly I can believe it though. GSP was simply a commodity to the powers that be. With just a sniff of his earning power possibly sneaking away, big baby in charge goes tantrum mode on him and even to this day is trying to set the narrative on the story.

I like MMA less because of this forum

Guys it was on national TV in Canada, and was on immediately following the conference call (Sportsnet 360).

I can't believe it isn't anywhere on the net, I've been looking for it everywhere. The Sportsnet site should have it for crying out loud.

Not surprising completely I think it was an attempt to push the whole Hendricks getting screwed agenda to try and bully GSP into a rematch instead of just pushing it as a close fight.

After watching Dana White operate for the last seven years, it is abundantly clear to me that he is the most fickle person I have ever seen.

He will shake men's hands, look them in the eye and tell them they were '******* awesome', then after the next fight he'll completely trash them.

He says he wants the best fighters in the world in his organization but he cuts guys like Okami and Fitch.

He will stand there look you in the eye and tell you they will never raise the price of ppvs, then do it anyway.

He will stand there and say Josh Barnett will never fight in the Ufc again... You get the picture.

He's a complete narcissistic, compulsive lying scum bag that will throw you and your mother under the bus if it will make him a dollar. So it does not surprise me in the least that he would stoop so low as to trash talk the man that has been nothing but loyal and devoted to the ufc for the past 8 years.

End of rant.

Being a big GSP fan I'm sure that I'm taking this more to heart then if it happened to another fighter.

I get that big businesses need to make tough decisions but Dana once again makes things far too personal. GSP made the UFC so much money, they should have probably let the guy be and just come out to the post fight press conference without having to harass him. If this is the truth, which I believe it is, I hope Georges stays retired. Any comeback will only be benefitting the UFC.

History has told us that Dana and company have mistreated all of their fighters, the blatant disrespect for its biggest draws/stars is disgusting. Dana was more then happy to shit on Lesnar when he left and anytime they meet up or have "negotiations" I'm sure Dana lowballs him and then shits on him again for leaving and not coming back.

Perhaps its just a matter of perspective and my age but I haven't been as much into MMA as I was say a couple of years ago. The product to me is far to watered down compared to the days when you were seeing the actual top guys on every pay per view. The skill wasn't nearly as high as it is now but the excitement level was consistently better (or at least that's how I remember it). I could honestly give two shits about any division below LW and only select LW fights are of my taste. Don't even get me started on the womens division, its like watching women boxing or womens basketball, etc. its just not as good...not even close. That's not to take away from the skill involved and the just doesn't hold up.

Anyways I'm already sidetracked but my whole point is that any fighter that leaves on their terms or doesn't play the UFC's political game 100% of the time gets shit on and not respected. Georges was a great ambassador for the UFC and undoubtedly brought a pile of fans and viewers based off of his performances and professional approach. I guess we're dealing with Dana White here, a guy who only understands part of the word class, so I shouldn't be as disappointed as I am.

I have watched Dana evolve as well. From a guy who was a guy who shot from the hip, to a guy who is very calculated even when he has a 'meltdown'. I respect (as does everyone) how he has been the biggest influence on the sport, and being a promoter, he always has to look at what's best for the company. I'm honestly kind of baffled at times though that the guys who have the opportunity to ask him the tough questions, let him get away with skirting around the issue or being pushed around by him. He doesn't answer a question honestly? Ask him again. Don't leave it. He skirts around an issue and tries to de-value a question, be firm and know that you are on the right path.

Dana acts the way he does because frankly, he can. He has become very very good with how he manipulates the media and press conferences with directing how the conversation goes. Almost always he hits the talking points he intended to (watching so many of his interviews over the years, now he seems to be on autopilot) whereas those who are doing the interviews are beingg pushed around or vilified by him.

Anyway, I can't personally state that I am a "fan" of GSP. I am a fan of MMA, and a fan of the business side of things (can't hate a guy for doing big things), heck its rare that I take a side other than a management/promoter side. That being said, this whole thing has rubbed me the wrong way.

But hey, its like the man says...this is the fight BUSINESS, and historically that business is filled with shady things.

Dana by and large is better than the Bob Arum's of this world and cares for the sport. Anyone can tell that. However he doesn't give 2 licks about who he needs to step on to expand it. In fairness to him, no international business cares about any 1 person to a point where it would be detrimental to the business.

Scum bag move though. I really hope to see the press hold his feet to the fire on this one and make sure he's aware that he can't just walk away from it. He has gotten really good at skirting the issue or just not being available for a week or 2 after shit blows up and then after the hoopla dies down he's back.

Dana actually brings it up at the end of the UFC on Fox 9 post fight press conference proactively (I guess it isn't just me) and says "it was lost in translation" and GSP was told by doctor's and NOT his people that he needed to go to the hospital and not to the press conference.

Simple questions that someone needs to ask Dana.

1. GSP has been in the UFC forever. He doesn't know the difference between a doctor and a PR person telling him where to go and what (nevermind GSP saying that the PR person lied in saying the press conference was full)

2. GSP stated that he had to push security out of the way because they stated he wasn't allowed to go in. Was security a doctor as well?

Dana just minimized the situation again and gets away with it because no one asks the questions.

The best part is anyone that questions anything is a "conspiracy theorist". This isn't theory, it is what was directly said (this isn't an alien abduction).
