Hey we all know UFC has been around for some time now, even though its only picking up full force now. Thanks Dana. Its good to be white.
I personally got into watching UFC around '95. Around the time when Tank Abott was kicking everyones ass. First UFC i saw was UFC 6 and the main event was Taktarov vs. Tank it went on for 5 rounds and even though Taktarov won he was carried away on the stretcher with an oxygen mask.
My dad rented the first couple after reading about it in martial arts mags like Black Belt lol. I watched those and i hated Royce and I was a big Shamrock fan. I kinda forgot about it though and then one day i saw KOS and Diego fight on Spike on the ultimate fighter and thought it was kind of cool. But what made me fall in love with mma was forrest and stephan bonnar's fight. Shamrock was also on that card and i had no idea who Rich was and i was telling everyone Shamrock would sub him with a leg lock lol he got outclassed by Rich though and ever since i started buying DVDs and started wrestling and have been a huge mma fan ever since. I missed like 10 years of evolution between ufc 2 or 3 and that ultimate fight night which kinda sucks but im hooked now
I think it's bull**** how many people are saying that they've been watching it "since the start" or whatever. Seeing as how a lot of those people sound like their 14, I wouldn't believe them. Oh well.
My brothers used to watch it because Dan Severn in the early days, but they were more into pro wrestling(people thought it was real). Then when Shamrock jumped over to WWE and was a badass, they went back and watched all the fights. Me being a tag-along, was their for the ride, but I didn't really know what was going on. When pmy family realised that wrasslin was fake, they started following MMA a bit more, and then around 1998-99 I began to understand what was going on. Luckly for me, some of the greatest fights happened during that time(Horn/Shamrock, Tito/Shamrock), and Frank Shamrock hooked me to the sport. After that, I witnessed the growth of the sport, fairly actively, and the religously in about late 2000.
I watched some of the early stuff....then stopped for a bit, picked it back up around 2000 and then stopped again, and accidentally found TUF 1 on tv and have been in love ever since
right from the start...had a black box/illegal cable and was able to catch the UFC whenever it was on PPV...been there since the days of Paul Varelands, Petey Williams, and todays stars...
I bought UFC 1 when Gracie won by rnc on PPV. Me and some buddies from work bought all of the early UFCs. I got on board right away and began to get all of them. The early ones were particularly brutal with very few rules-I believe that biting and eye gouging were the only rules enforced. Also, there were no judges. It was referee stoppage, tap out or throw in the towel. Those were the days!

Started watching TUF 3 on and off. Then I cought an all day marathon of TUF 3 and TUF 4 started that same week, watched all of TUF 4, wich also made me a Matt Sera fan, and the Ortiz VS Shamrok fights. I watched every event from UFC 40 to UFC 71.
1994, my uncle brought home ufc 1...i was 6
been watching boxing all my life (my grandpa was a pro boxer and he raised me)
i didnt start train mma until much more recently though.
i guess it was ufc 2 cus i missed the 1st one but rented it and have been hooked since.....u know back in the pat smith, olag, royce, ken shamrock days when there was no gloves, well no rules.
The first UFC I ever say was UFC 2 I dont know what year it was maybe in 94 I rented it from blockbuster and I was hooked then I started renting them each time they came out. The first PPV I saw was UFC 13 Belfort/Abbott. The Phenom was one of my favorite fighters. But my favorite fighter was Oleg Taktarov :thumb02:
Cannot really say for sure, I remember going over to a friends house and his dad and brothers were watching the buid up to Shamrock/Gracie I think there first "superfight" and I remember renting various tapes throughout college. Then when Ortiz/Shamrock happened for the first time I got that one on PPV then when TUF 1 came along I was hooked and been watching ever since.
1994. I saw UFC 2 live on ppv and UFC 1 I think I watched a taped copy of it. My dad used to order the old UFC shows and I would watch. I was young then so I didn't know to much. I then got way more involved with the UFC in summer of 2002 when I got a satelite.
I first watched UFC back in 2003 or 2004, and I watched cabage get his face punched in, and he still wouldn't flinch. Found that really funny, and still find it kinda amusing lol.
I didn't REALLY get into till I moved in 2006, and one of my friends was REALLY into it. Been PPVing since the Ortiz VS Liddell fight.
hmm i guess like 99% of the people here have been die hard fans since it started huh..:sarcastic05: i havnt been the biggest ufc fan, i saw some early ufc and didn't like, watched pride religiously and then i started watching ufc again durin liddel vs white
Watched the first 4 or 5 events in the mid 90s or something. Then I stopped watching for some reason, then I watched Arlovski beat the crap out of someone in late 2004, or ealy 2005 and then I got back into it.
Since then, Ive tried to catch up on the 40 or some shows I missed
Kind of hard because I started getting into pride at the same time.
So many fights, so little time.
