Believe it not, the home island of UFC legend BJ Penn has never had the pleasure of hosting the UFC event on it's lush green fields or picturesque volcanic mountainsides.
You'd also be forgiven for thinking that the time for such an event has passed as BJ Penn's genuine contender status within the organisation has wained over recent years, however a quick glance at the current UFC roster shows that a sprinkling of Hawaiians still remain;
- Fresh off his big win over Josh Barnett, I'm sure future contender Travis Browne would love to see the day his can compete on home shores.
- Currently riding a 5-fight winning streak, it seems Tavares is on the cusp of a top-10 position within the Middleweight division, It would be expected that his next fight be against a ranked opponent.
- Former Pro-boxer and EliteXC champion KJ Noons has competed with the likes of Nick Diaz and current contender Josh Thompson over his 12-7 career. Although he hasn't competed on his native soil since 2008 I'd presume he'd be keen to go back.
- 8-3 Featherweight Max Holloway tested his metal against rising star Conor McGregor in 2013 before starting his 2014 with a win over Will Chope.
Others; Dustin Kimura (11-1) and Yancy Medeiros (10-1).
Are there any other good
locations out there that have yet to host a UFC event?
