Surprising locations the UFC have yet to visit

Hawaii.

Believe it not, the home island of UFC legend BJ Penn has never had the pleasure of hosting the UFC event on it's lush green fields or picturesque volcanic mountainsides.

You'd also be forgiven for thinking that the time for such an event has passed as BJ Penn's genuine contender status within the organisation has wained over recent years, however a quick glance at the current UFC roster shows that a sprinkling of Hawaiians still remain;

Travis Browne - Fresh off his big win over Josh Barnett, I'm sure future contender Travis Browne would love to see the day his can compete on home shores.

Brad Tavares - Currently riding a 5-fight winning streak, it seems Tavares is on the cusp of a top-10 position within the Middleweight division, It would be expected that his next fight be against a ranked opponent.

KJ Noons - Former Pro-boxer and EliteXC champion KJ Noons has competed with the likes of Nick Diaz and current contender Josh Thompson over his 12-7 career. Although he hasn't competed on his native soil since 2008 I'd presume he'd be keen to go back.

Max Holloway - 8-3 Featherweight Max Holloway tested his metal against rising star Conor McGregor in 2013 before starting his 2014 with a win over Will Chope.

Others; Dustin Kimura (11-1) and Yancy Medeiros (10-1).

Are there any other good locations out there that have yet to host a UFC event?

Hawaii is pretty easy to explain, the associated cost of travel would prevent most people from coming.

I'm actually surprised that Baltimore is finally getting a shot. I know I'll be there!

Phoenix hasn't had a UFC event. Considering the number fighters who train here & live here or are alumni of ASU, you would think the UFC would visit here at least once. Phoenix is just about the only metropolitan area in the top 20 that hasn't had an event in the area.

Still surprised they haven't put together a mega event in Jerra's World.

Just check out the giant big screen, for those of you not familiar with NFL the field is measured in yards. So that TV is what? 60 yards long. Give or take.

Dana has answered that question about Phoenix a few times,

The proximity to Las Vegas is the problem, it's so close that it is a detriment..

Also he said something about the poor reception of a WEC event that was held there would contribute to the prevention of it hosting

Ufc Events Attended:

Ufc Fight Night: Davis Vs Nogueira, Ufc 131, Ufc 143, Ufc 148, Ufc on Fox 5, Ufc 156, Ufc on Fox 8

I was a game there a couple weeks ago and sat about 20 rows from the very top row and that TV still looks massive. They could sell the cheap seats just to watch the event in that atmosphere on one of the biggest TVs in the world. That stadium is just amazing.

Those are both poor excuses by DW. Anaheim is closer to Vegas than Phoenix & has seen multiple events. WEC numbers were low across the board. WEC 53 did better than most WEC events. And even if that was the case, why does Denver still get UFC events when WEC 51 did far worse in attendance than WEC 53?

lol I can only imagine. People have actually played Madden on that screen before.

They use to tease the idea of a superfight being in Cowboy's stadium. Hopefully they do some kind of mega event there eventually.
