Two members of UFC 169 live audience stabbed during event

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2014/2/2/...d-during-event

Quote:
Reports of stabbings in the audience at UFC 169 have been confirmed by the Newark Police department.

UFC 169 took place Saturday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Reports began surfacing shortly after the event that fights in the audience led to stabbings.

However, the reports were later confirmed by NJ.com and the Newark Police department:

Two people were stabbed inside the Prudential Center during an Ultimate Fighting Championship event on Saturday night, police said.

The victims, who were not identified, suffered non-life threatening injuries after they were stabbed in the stands, according to Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio.

A suspect was arrested in the attack, according to DeMaio, who did not identify the assailant or say when or where the incident took place. An e-mail to an arena spokesman seeking comment was not immediately returned.
Brings a whole new meaning to this:

I swear this happens during boring fights. I remember being at one of the cards and the fights kept going to a decision and at one point fights just started breaking out in this one section. When I rewatched the fights at home Rogan even said at one point "The fights in the stands are more entertaining than the ones in the cage". This was a few years ago, but people in the stands are stir crazy for some action to cheer about.

No chance I was going to this event. But I went for Bones/Sonnen last year at the same arena, and I saw a fight that was literally the craziest fight I've ever seen at a sports game. Just imagine a row of like 4 or 5 jacked guys wearing a polo shirt and backwards hat all swinging for the fences. I agree, it's what happens when people overpay and get boring fights, and it's a sausage fest with a lot of alcohol.

Srsly they don't pat down people a lil bit at the gate ??
Interesting ... Drunk idiots going to watch 2 guys fight , it kinda sounds inevitable ...
In my country , every event that is "in doors" you get frisked a lil bit ... exactly for this kind of things ... And its a great thing , none complains ...

I was going to post this earlier this morning. Horrible PR for MMA. I also can't believe they let people in with weapons. Unless they used non tradition weapons for the stabbing such as a fork or something.

1. BJ "The Prodigy" Penn
2. Dan "Hollywood" Henderson
3. George "Rush" St Pierre

I don't think this is bad PR for MMA. Stabbings, beatings, or shootings happen a few times each year in football or baseball. I imagine this happens at some soccer events around the world too.

Dumbass drunk people who get bored always find trouble.
