My guess is that the UFC does whatever they can to get Rory (although I don't understand the Rory appeal, the guy has the personality of a freaking stick and I think his hype far outstretches his talent right now) into a title shot in the very near future. They are going to want another Canadian with a belt now that GSP is gone, so I would almost guarantee that Rory gets the next shot regardless of the outcome of Condit/Woodley.
I don't know what "appeal" Rory needs to have he's 7-2 and ranked 4th in the division, he's earned his title shot. Also putting the belt on his discourages GSP and I'm sure the UFC wants that. I also don't think anyone looks at Hendricks and Lawler and sees them as nothing more than transitional champions. I also think they need to use Condit to knock out Shields (who I'm sure the UFC wants to cut).
IMO their best chance is TJ Grant, who seems to be skipped over in favor of others in that division now.
I'm still not totally sold on Grant. I feel like Pettis, Melendez, and Thomson would all pick him apart and Bendo would outwork him for 3 rounds. I want to see him fight another top guy before I jump on that hype train.
Hopefully they'll book Henderson/Grant for 5 rounds in a main event. Uncle Dana's new whipping boy is Henderson, he wants to cut that 6 figure contract so I expect some terrible fights for Benson.
