How do you see the UFC WW title picture?

With Rory requesting a title shot, I was just curious to how you guys view the current WW title picture? There are some big fights already booked that might help clear it up. Where does Rory and the winners of these fights fit in?

Upcoming fights already booked:
Hendricks vs Lawler
Lombard vs Shields
Saffiedine vs Ellenberger
Condit vs Woodley
Hathaway vs Kim

It's hard to really say until these fights pan out. There are so many possibilities depending on how they all turn out.

I'm a big GSP fan... but I can't deny that him vacating the title certainly stirred up and rekindle the WW division.

Really the biggest problem is everyone is coming off a loss or has only put together 1 win so far... or is ranked fairly low.

Lombard: 1 Fight winning streak
Shields: 2 Fight split decision winning streak
Saffiedine: 5 fight winning streak but currently ranked #9.. and no real interesting story
Ellenberger: coming off loss to Rory
Condit: 1 Fight winning streak
Woodley: 1 Fight winning streak
Hathaway: 3 Fight win streak... currently unranked
Kim: 3 fight win streak but ranked 11th
MacDonald: 1 fight winning streak
Diaz: 2 fight losing streak and hasn't fought since March 2013

It's really hard to pick a clear cut 1 number contender until they do another round of eliminations.

I think before long Condit will be champ.

To be honest I can't really say what's going to happen. Hendricks/Lawler could go either way and I don't think there's one clear "best fighter" out of those mentioned. It's all about matchups.

My gut and brain both tell me Condit is going to come out on top though.

Would be hilarious if Shields ended up with the title. I would love it, just to see to the look on Dana's face.

I talked about it in the Rory thread a bit. IMO Rory isn't deserving at the moment. I think he is more in line with the Kim-Hathaway winner or Matt Brown. Depending on the who wins and how they win will make a big difference. I'd probably break it down something like this:

Lombard and Tarec with wins in their next fights would probably top the list for next shot.

If Lombard and Tarec both lose or win unimpressively that opens it up a bit. Then IMO it would go to the biggest name that won most impressively. Also depends on who wins title fight. I could see Hendricks vs Condit 2 even though Condit isn't on much of a streak. But IF Tarec and Lombard lose I think the UFC would have him next if he wins impressively.

I'm one of the biggest Diaz fans there is but he has no room in the current title discussion since he is "retired" or waiting for a gifted title shot.

If Shields wins his next fight then he deserves the shot. I'd like to see Condit get it but he'd probably need to beat Woodley and then someone else.

I'd like to see Diaz/Macdonald for the next shot

Hendricks
Lawler \
-----
Macdonald /
Diaz(or Matt Brown)

And then the winner of this grouping for the shot after that

Lombard
Shields \
-----
Condit /
Woodley

And then basically an 8 man tournament for a shot after that.

Saffiedine
Ellenberger \
-----
Kym /
Hathaway

Kelvin Gastelum
Rick Story \
----
John Howard /
Ryan LaFlare

Not if he takes another SD... 3 SD victors on his way to a title shot.. lame.

I personally don't think Jake should be in line for a shot unless people above him lose and he wins in impressive fashion. Although a win period over Lombard would be impressive. The fact that he already had a title shot hurts him IMO. It would be different if he was clearly above the other contenders but at this point I don't think he is.

I wish MacDonald was fighting Condit. I think that fight would be more meaningful.

Ellenberger vs Condit II could have title shot implications too...

In this situation, I think either of those guys with a W over Condit deserves the shot. I would also say the same for Condit. A win over either of Ellenberger or MacDonald would be enough for him to get a shot at Lawler/Hendricks.

The fights that are setup don't really do anything to hammer out a clean number 1.
