Rampage: UFC sponsorships are going down because Bellator is beating them in ratings

Quote:
While Jackson offers no specific comparisons, it should be noted that Bellator's best ever ratings for a Saturday night -- 1.1 million for "Chandler vs. Alvarez 2" on Spike TV -- couldn't beat the 1.4 million returned by UFC Fight Night 36 on FOX Sports 1.

"If you want to be with a company that will allow you to grow and not tax you on your sponsorships and not throw you to the wolves on your first fight. Basically, treat you like a human being that will promote you if you are worth being promoted, then I will say go with a company like Bellator. At the end of the day it's all about what you're looking for. If you want longevity, I would go with a company like Bellator, a company that you can grow with. And here's a secret that the UFC won't tell you, and will never tell you, but right now Bellator is getting more ratings than the UFC and sponsors understand stuff like that. So, a lot of sponsors are going to come and jump over to Bellator and UFC sponsorships are gonna go down because if you don't have the ratings, you don't have the commercial money and the people that pay, to watch the commercials, and you don't have the endorsement dollars."

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight kingpin, Quinton Jackson, tells Fight Hub TV that he knows why his former employer is having so much trouble attracting sponsors, and it has nothing to do with the economy. Instead, "Rampage" suggests it has more to do with the fact that Bellator is beating them in the ratings, which could be behind the recent high-profile sponsorship agreements with Monster Energy and Victory Motorcycles. And the good news for Jackson, as well as other Bellator fighters, is that whatever money they earn from sponsors is theirs to keep, according to promotion head cheese Bjorn Rebney. That's probably music to Nate Diaz's ears.

not sure if I'd ask page for career advice...

UFC is mainstream, hell, people even call the MMA sport "UFC" it has nothing to do with the sponsors or even fighter pay.

it's just that UFC is the premier league of MMA

and I'm sure sponsors also understand that

Umm, Rampage, this is the exact opposite of what is going on right now. The UFC has never had more or bigger sponsors at any other time in their history than right now. Even when Bellator puts out a great card, it couldn't beat a relatively weak UFC fight night card.

So the super secret ratings the UFC won't tell us about, they'll tell Rampage. Someone give Rampage a VICE Media job for his journalistic talents.

Pride did him wrong, the UFC did him wrong...So whats the over under until we hear about how Bellator did him wrong? Well, he will probably actually stay happy for awhile if Bellator continues to give him fights against the likes of Beltran (2-7-1 in his last ten) and M'Pumbu who has dropped his last two and is a completely mediocre striker at best and that is about his only weapon.

I would actually be happy as a pig in shit if Bellator started to compete with the UFC in terms of talent and sponsorship. Probably won't happen anytime soon, but the way UFC treats their fighters it definitely could happen down the road.

I think we all need to be kind to Rampage.

He lost 5 of his last six in the UFC (he really did lose to Lyoto). And he got hit a lot. Even a thick skull can be affected by multiple blows to the head.

Add in his meltdown in Orange County and it is easy to see that he needs support and therapy. Love and understanding.

Or not.

I wouldn't. I want the ufc to have competition but no the scumbags from bellator. Things won't get any better for fighters with those two. I miss Scott Coker.
