UFC announces more shows for Asia...

UFC Asia Managing Director Mark Fischer announced that the UFC would be returning for another event at the CotaiArena in Macau, China later this year on August 23 for another UFC Fight Night card. Fischer made the announcement following today's UFC Fight Night 37 event at the same venue.

In addition, the UFC will also have an event at the Saitama Arena in Japan for another Fight Night card on September 20. Fischer stated: "Based on the success of our first event in Macau and tonight, we can confirm we are going to be be back here in August. We're holding the date of Aug. 23 with an even bigger event. I don't know if we can top this, but we're certainly going to try. And we'll return to Japan on Sept. 20 with a major event."

UFC Fight Night 37 in Macau, China was streamed exclusively on UFC Fight Pass today.
Looking good for Stun Gun to get another main event this year, maybe Korean Zombie will be the other guy.

Would be very interested in seeing Stun Gun vs. Rory in Japan.
I've always admired the Japanese people and their crowd.

South Korea is another place I would like to see the UFC go in the future.

I know Macau is a special administrative region in China like Hong Kong is but are there certain legal factors that make Macau and Hong Kong different as SPR's? I'm not a geopolitical expert so I wouldn't know but I thought the UFC would be going after Hong Kong hard by now.

I seem to recall China having it's own MMA promotion and not allowing the UFC in, but the UFC thinks China will change it's mind in 2015. I think the next step is a Phillipines show and then after that and everything being successful China will let them in.

And I think Rory will have a title shot this summer so Stun Gun in the fall is out of the question.

You think Rory is getting a title shot after a decision win against Maia? In which he was completely dominated in the first round? No disrespect intended but what in the hell would your basis for Rory getting a title shot be? IMO he needs at least two more wins or at the minimum at least one more quality win to get a title shot.

Regarding China, that's good news, I was just curious if there were different policies that were more favorable for the UFC to go to Macau as opposed to Hong Kong.

I believe the tax rates in Macao are favourable to businesses like the UFC, a very basic way to look at it would be sort of like a less developed/exploited (in a business sense) Hong Kong.

Interesting. Isn't Hong Kong virtually a tax free jurisdiction though?
Of course this could be a LOT different for foreign companies.

Well it depends on who wins, if Robbie Lawler wins the title I think the shot would go to Carlos Condit but if Johny Hendricks wins(the favorite), Rory's the highest ranked(#4) guy in the division that Hendricks hasn't fought. Also logistically the UFC might want to force GSP's hand, Rory won't fight GSP but if Rory's champ then you have some box office gold in Canada and a dilemma for Georges.

Now a few other things, yes Demian Maia dominated the first round against Rory, but that wasn't a bad thing for Rory. Maia tapped Sonnen in the first round, Rory did better than Chael and it made for a great fight. His loss to Lawler was a close split decision and his loss to Condit was a KO in the last 10 seconds.

You say Rory needs two more wins, he's 2-2 right now against the #2, #3, #5, and #6 ranked guys in the UFC what are victories over #7 and #9 going to get him a title shot

Jake Shields might be more deserving on paper 5-1 against current ranked opponents but Jake could also get cut by the UFC with his next loss out of spite for not being the UFC just bleed guy.
