Was I the only one mystified at the reaction

to how the condit/woodley fight ended?

everyone including joe rogan made a point to put an asterisks next to it.Goldberg using words like anti-climatic and that is not how you want to win a fight, which would have been fine if the general reaction towards anderson/weidman 2 wasnt the exact opposite.

Both these fights ended abruptly due to injury but thats where the similarities end.Woodley won his fight inflicting an offensive maneuver which led to condit's injury, was it the TD or leg kick take your pick.Whereas weidman wasnt the archtect to silva's injury he was simply protecting himself from a leg kick.

So why are rogan/mma fans in a hurry to discredit woodley's win but content to tie a bow around weidman's

I don't think their's an asterisk for Woodley for his win, but it wasn't big enough to get a title shot which is the issue. Rogan was pretty much burying everybody that night, the crap he said about Hector Lombard was much worse in my eyes. Lombard kicks Shields ass takes him down in every round batters his face and Rogan calls for Hector to not get the next shot.

If Mark Munoz broke his leg on Chris Weidman...Weidman would not get his title shot off that.

Rogan is stumping for Rory/Hendricks and while I agree with that fight he shouldn't be putting down Hector and Tyron for that fight he should be arguing for Rory.

Because Woodley is black and Weidman is white. Obviously.

Easy. Weidman was dominating Silva before the injury. Condit was opening up and seriously threatening Woodley before his injury. Major difference.

That and you throw the title implications based on the win and it changes everything.

And also, I'm not sure what reactions you saw post Weidman / Silva 2, but the general consensuses among most was that they weren't happy with the ending.... just like with Condit / Woodley. Your point is moot.

RIP Jordan Corder. Watch over me from above brother.

It's a good question, ultimately I think it simply comes down to overall popularity and preference.

I like MMA less because of this forum

some time the love for Anderson gets insane. Even I think he's the GOAT but holy crap, he got beat badly twice and still people can't let it go.

Yeah Joe was really killing everyone all night. I thought I heard him say Rory should get the next title shot, he's being crazy. Rory hasn't earned a title shot yet.

At the OP. Probably for the same reason everyone is mad in the fight thread, Woodley was slowing down and Condit has shown the ability to take over late. Plus if I'm being honest I think no one expected Woodley to win at all. After the Kos fight Rogan said on his podcast he didn't think Woodley had a chance to ever get to a title shot that he basically wasn't good enough and then Woodley goes and wins a fight that arguably should put him in a title fight and if you listen to Joe's podcast at all you know how much he hates to be wrong about literally anything. The guy argues and disagrees with NDT sometimes for gods sake.

If you have never heard the term, whats good for the goose is good for the gander then I dont know what to tell you. My point is if weidmans win (which was won on d) is accepted both wins should be judged the same irrespective of whether it was a title match, had title implications or the fight was tilted a certain way proceeding the finish. To put these little conditions in the way one leaves themselves open to bias

PS Appreciate all the mature responses

I thought JR was harsh on hector Lombard as well. Although I agree hector hasn't always got a highly active top game his performance has a all I thought was good enough for a title shot or at least title contender match.

I dont think TW should be discredited for his victory. He was winning the fight up to the injury and showed enough to merit a shot... Id like to see him and hector for Number 1 contender
