Anderson Silva Supports Trt Ban, Not Opposed To Eventually Fighting Machida Or ‘jacar

I think this is pretty big news. The whole landscape has changed drastically and violently much how Anderson ruled the last six+ years.

I always wanted this match up, but it had to work in such a way that it would happen. In some freakish way it might...it just might.

I equate this to Michael Jordan retiring the first time then going on hiatus even though Anderson is a bit older.

Quote:
Count Anderson Silva among those in favor of the Nevada Athletic Commission’s recent decision to ban testosterone replacement therapy.

“I don’t think [TRT use] is fair. Actually I think they should have banned it a long time ago,” Silva said during a recent appearance on the Altas Horas show, which airs on the Brazilian network Rede Globo. “The way it was done, however, wasn’t fair to Vitor Belfort. A few months before his title shot, and they suddenly change the rules. But [overall] I think it’s a good change for the sport to be more fair.”

As a result of the TRT ban, Belfort withdrew from his middleweight title shot against Chris Weidman at UFC 173. Instead, Lyoto Machida will square off with Weidman on May 24 in Las Vegas. Silva said that he will be cheering for Machida, but he also admitted that he could conceivably have to fight “The Dragon” somewhere down the road.

“A lot of things have to happen before I can challenge for the middleweight title again,” Silva said. “I don’t have plans to fight any of my friends, especially Lyoto, but if in the future I have the chance to fight for the belt and he is the champion, we will fight.”

That also goes for another countryman and 185-pound title contender, Ronaldo Souza.

“Actually, I always used to say that I wouldn’t fight a teammate, but that [attitude] has never been reciprocal,” Silva said. “Inside Team Nogueira we take it very seriously, but Lyoto is not part of Team Nogueira and neither is ‘Jacare.” In all the interviews they did, they said they would fight me. I can’t be any different.”

Actually I thought he was Blackhouse too. But in reality him moving down to 185 was a clear indication what his goals were. This dates back to his father stating that they must fight regardless of friendship.

My guess is Machida may have distanced himself especially after re-evaluating his career and moving to the States. I just hope it was mutual and doesn't result in a fractured friendship. Cuz you can see they have genuine respect from one another. At one point they both ruled their own weight classes.

But imagine how the fight would unravel. I think it would be MMA at the very highest level.

Anderson Silva Changes Stance On Fighting Friends, Machida/Jacare

Quote:
Anderson Silva has had a change of heart.

At one point in the former champion’s career, he refused to fight his ‘Team Black House’ training partners, Lyoto Machida and Jacare Souza.

However, those two fighters failed to deliver on that same type of loyalty.

Now that they are both in the UFC’s middleweight division, the duo has frequently stated they would fight Anderson when asked by the MMA media.

Those comments haven’t gone unnoticed by Silva and as a result, he’s changed his mind.

“That is something that I have always said, about not fighting a training partner, but it isn’t reciprocal. Inside Team Nogueira we follow this but Lyoto isn’t from Team Nogueira and neither is Jacare then it’s a vague situation.

In all their interviews they said clearly that they would fight me so I can’t think differently. I don’t want to fight a friend, mainly Lyoto, but if I in the future I have credentials to fight for the belt and we have to fight, we will fight.”

Be honest, would you shy away from a Machida vs. Silva fight?
I didn't want to start a new thread for this but man, Anderson is a huge troll He's probably testing the waters to see if those fights would sell. But I would love to see him fight either of those guys. But the Macida one is a must see fight!

How is that being a troll?? What he says makes complete sense and is true. What he says is not for the sole purpose of pissing someone off which is what a troll is.

This Anderson "troll" thing has gotten out of hand. Anything the guy says or does someone claims its because he is trolling.

I always though it seemed like a really boring fight... two southpaw counterpunchers, nightmare.

They could circle forever, but eventually someone is going to draw first blood. Anderson when he wants to is the deadliest striker. Lyoto would want to take it down I'd imagine, but they could finish each other although Anderson has a higher probability.

I think I would rather watch this vs GSP. GSP is too small and is susceptible in getting hit. There have been times where he gets wobbled at some point in the fight. It's gonna be very difficult to recover against The Spider.

Eight fights if he could finish his contract.

UK - Maybe Bisping depending on rankings.
Montreal - GSP
Brazil - Lyoto
New Jersey then Vegas - The Chris x 2 to return the favor. Only if Anderson wins the third otherwise I'd considered that match up done...sadly.
New York @ Madison w/ LHW title holder.

On the fence who the last two fights should be against. Not too keen on a Jacare, Rockhold fight cuz they're not on par level wise. I did want to see Mousassi though, but after the loss to Machida not soo much anymore. He mentioned fighting against Frank Mir and man I would love to see that.
Extremely dangerous fight cuz if Frank lands a takedown he should be able to submit em, but can he catch em.

Purely speculation.

Anderson at 206lbs vs Frank Mir HW bout.
Anderson at 206lbs vs JDS

Would really cap off an incredible career run.

It's all empty and meaningless talk until I physically see Anderson standing across the cage from Machida.
