Look. My main sticking point is this: Jones is the champion. Hes *supposed* to be fighting the toughest fights in his division. That's the point of being the fecking champion. But he seems to be complaining about it. Sobbing "Why do I have to fight all the toughest dudes?"... can you really not see how ridiculous a thing this is to hear from a champion?

100% agree. People think that these fighters make blanket statements. When asked a question he responds with how he feels. Glover beat James Tehuna, Rampage, and Ryan Bader. I can understand why Jon could think that he hasnt had the most difficult road to a title shot. If I am Champ and are constantly fighting killers. Then is it to much to ask that my competition actually fights other "competition" and not just warm up fights.

I don't think it's so much "why do I have to fight all the toughest fights?" as much as it is "they aren't worthy to challenge for my title". I don't think it's a fear of facing any opponent, I think it's just a warped sense of entitlement.

Gus knows Bones isn't afraid of him....he's just trying to do everything he can to make sure he is the clear cut #1 contender and/or build interest to a potential rematch. I hope he keeps quiet though so Bones can focus on Glover, as I'm worried about that fight.
I agree with u, Bones isn't afraid of Gus and Gus is just messing with him, but IMO, JBJ should just take it as it comes (in terms of title challengers) instead of publicly asking for DC and Gus to fight for n.1 contender status- it's definitely more "badass" to just accept each and every challenger if u ask me...

As I said, I usually dont mind what Jones says, considering his talent (+what he's accomplished), but as of late, he just says things that dig his own hole.

But hes saying *none* of them are deserving. Not a single dude. So who is he suggesting he should fight? Somebody outside the top 5?

IMO his attitude is there isn't currently anyone "worthy" of entering the cage with him. I don't think it's fear, like I said I think he just thinks way too highly of himself.

Im not so sure. I dont think he wants Gus at all and is hoping he will lose. A champion should be gagging to get back in there and prove their dominance. At this stage, kicking Gustafs arse would do more for his career then any other opponent. So if Jones wants fights of "worth" why run from the one fight that carries the most weight?

I don't understand his logic really, I'm just saying that is impression I get from him. I don't know why he thinks discrediting his competition is a good thing.

I think i understand what he's saying, I just think he could have stated it better. They dont deserve a shot in his mind because they aren't fighting each other to get the shot.

He wants them to establish a number one contender and then he wants to fight that guy.

Bones has defended his LHW title against Rampage, Machida, Rashad, Belfort, Sonnen, and Gus in that order. Now he's going to be defending it against Tex. Meanwhile, Gus lost to JBJ (fans think it was controversial, everyone's opinion who matters didn't) and then beat a virtual no-namer on an online MMA show. Meanwhile Cormier had one fight at LHW against such a no-namer who probably doesn't even have a Wikipedia page. I get injuries happen and there were circumstances, but from Bones mentality, he is just saying how they don't deserve a title shot based off of those performances. He's technically right, as Gus vs DC would be more of an ultimate #1 contender's fight, but obviously someone has to get the next shot.
