I could take a dump on a paper and it would look more artistic than that.

You can't, Piero Manzoni could. And a tin with 30 grams of his faeces was sold for 124,000. That my friend is art - a can full of crap.

I call it "trolling via art".

Actually, art commerce is a similar principle as when MMA fans buy a particular MMA brand, because a fighter with a name has worn it. It's all about the name. Those artist usually CAN draw/paint perfectly and already had a name, before they became abstract. People who buy their art actually buy their name and the more someone paid for a piece of them, the more value their name gets.

With the right name, you also can expose a bathtub in which you took a bath, leaving a layer of grease/dirt on the side after letting the water out. A cleaning lady in the art gallery didn't quite understand the art though

If you are trying to justify the value of a piece of blotched colors on canvas because they actually drew a decent picture at one time, you're not doing a good job.

I don't care if he was Michelangelo. I would pay $5 for a picture like that.

RIP Jordan Corder. Watch over me from above brother.

He is probably quite talented, because even if it looks like nothing, it's definitely NOT easy to exactly copy another artist's style to a degree that it would fool an expert.

I don't try to justify anything. I just say how it works. The value is what people are willing to pay for it. If some billionaires are willing to pay millions, then the value obviously is millions. It's not reasonable at all, but it is like that.

It's the same as with a Tap Out shirt. It's production cost is maybe $0.5, but as soon as the brand logo is stamped on it, people are willing to pay $40, because some MMA fighter with a name has worn the same shirt, even though the quality is not better than a shirt for $5 without a brand name. With art it's just in millionaires and billionaires proportions.
