Given his attitude, this isn't a surprising step for him. While I think he could be fit to fight at MW, in reality, given his fighting style and skill, he probably has a better chance of being marginally successful one day at HW more so then LHW and MW.

I like MMA less because of this forum

Of course it is. With all the cards ufc does these days they don't event have credible Co mains on many cards let alone a fight that can step into a reasonable main event.

I like Fabio and think he is an asset in giving good slugfest fights at 205. But he has no chance unless Stipe is dumb as hell. Stipe could take him down whenever he wants. He could easily out quick him and hit him at will on the feet. Unless he tries to trade flat footed from the pocket he has no shot of losing. And even then Fabio has shown little KO power. Stinging shots for sure but not a guy who can even give that underdog KO shot.

It's good this happened on this card tho, for the ufc. Brazil fans will still go nuts and think it's awesome. These cards suck ass.

Maldonado can sit fat and happy... Work his power and walk in like a beast here....

His boxing is better... His body shots are brutal, his chin is granite, and he's got the heart of a LION.

Stipe might be in trouble here.

Unless Miocic just takes him to the floor and unleashes his nasty elbows. Shane del Rosario style.

Now that is exactly the fun part of UFC being entertainment and I was speaking about that in the other thread.

This is a fantastic replacement fight. A courageous underdog (literally) stepping up to save a card. Sure this fight means zero for any title contention, but as entertainment goes, it just became even more interesting.

Maldonado is indeed a fat LHW. He could easily be a MW, but he's heading toward a dangerous HW out of nowhere.

That is the kind of thing that will grant him utter respect from the promotion and gather him a few more fans, even though we all know he is not very well in his head, but likable fearless guy, no doubt.

I really dont get this. Rothwell, Barnett, Rosholt, Mir and Big Nog are all unbooked but a LHW with a mediocre record is the best fit??
