I've been noticing

that since Fedor talk of swingin' over, AA's name has come up alot. Is he really the best guy to beat him. I can't see it, I like AA but I don't see it. Randy or Gonzaga I think have a better chance. What about CC , I understand he's lost twice to him but I haven't seen anyone bring up. Fedor is gonna dominate this div. Thoughts...

It's a longshot for anyone to do so but I gotta go with AA. I don't think Couture matches up well at all with Fedor because the only real way I see Fedor losing is by strikes. I don't think Couture has what it takes to even hurt him. Gonzaga is interesting in that he's coming off a huge win over CroCop but could he realistically compete with Fedor...I wouldn't believe it til I saw it. Arlovski, if he fought smart, would have the best chance of hurting Fedor in the stand-up game and with his power, he has the best chance of beating him in my opinion.

There was an article with Andrei saying that he was ready to fight Fedor, so take it what it's worth but I think we have found out with Andrei when he is hot he is close to unstoppable but when he is cold he isn't all that much fun to watch, so I think it depends what Arlovski we get if we get the Ar;ovski that went 5 rounds Sylvia (I heard he was hurt does anybody know about this) then no but if we get the Arlovski that can drop you with one shot then yes he could beat Fedor.

I can't see AA even beating second tier HW competition right now...there's no aggressiveness, no fire in his eyes anymore.

I read an interview with one of his trainers and it said something to the effect of: He had a knee injury but didnt want to mention it before the fight in case he wouldnt be allowed to fight. NSAC (not sure about those letters) got word of it and wanted to fine him but never had proof that he was injured. AND that he didnt want anyone to know about the injury because in AA's eyes it would look like an excuse.

At least thats what I got out of the interview.

You do realize he just beat a top 10 HW at UFC 70, He fought a smart fight he shouldn't have gone to the ground with Werdum, Werdum is one of the best in the world at SUBS and Andrei didn't want any of it. Also don't don't get me wrong I would of loved seeing a KO too

When I say top tier, I'm referring to the Cro Cop/Couture/Fedor class of fighters. He may have won against Werdum, but he didn't beat him like a UFC fighter that wants a title shot does. You put AA in a ring with Herring, Minotauro, Gonzaga, Vera or even Tim and he loses. There's no fire in his eyes, no fighters instinct.

I don't see Randy doing anything. Maybe AA, maybe Gonzaga, but I think Cro Cop could do it. I don't see Nog ever beating Fedor.

This will come off as pure nut-huggery but I don't see anyone in the UFC beating Fedor. I think Fedor is just so far ahead of the back in all aspects of the game. He's not just a brute, he is probably the smartest fighter there is (yes, moreso than Randy).

The closest competition I think for Fedor would be Gonzaga. Gonzaga is an agile, strong and well-rounded 240lb fighter that is also quite intelligent/well-prepared for fights. Even then, I see Fedor using his sambo and just demolishing Gonzaga with ground and pound.

Arlovski is just too inconsistent to make a bet on against Fedor. He has amazing striking, but so does Mirko and Fedor stood with him no problem. If Arlovski beat Fedor, it would be from a cut-stoppage IMO.

My pick to dethrone Fedor would be Gonzaga. He's big, aggressive, intelligent, well prepared, strong, great ground skills, and a good striker.

Eh, I think Fedor would take the fight. Once again, it's Fedor. But I don't think it'd be a complete outclassing, with some good technical stuff happening.
