Just A Question

UFC and MMA in general is becoming more apart of popular culture with more and more people either participating and or watching it.

Would you (being a dedicated fan) feel dissociated with UFC/MMA in general if it became more popular? like your grandmother watching fights and shit?
Would you feel a need to no longer follow the sport? find something more "underground"?

Personally no, it doesn't matter to me who likes the sport or watches the sport. I would stop if A)the fights got crappy either by rules changes or fights being rigged or B)I didn't think fighters that deserve title shots, or the stiffest competition was taking place. An example of B would be if say Vera comes back and right away gets a title shot with Randy/Gonzaga but guys like AA, Big Tim, Cro Cop, Big Nog have to wait or are overlooked. Finally, I will only stop also if the sport doesn't move past this organization vs. organization or hopefully like boxing you can UFC champs fighting Bodog champs, altho. I think this is a ways off, like 10-15+ years. Hope that answers the question for you.

I find people that avoid something simply because it's popular to be as obnoxious as people that follow something simply because it's popular.

This is also why I don't generally participate in polls.

I would keep watching unless they changed drastically. The only thing I really wouldnt like is all of a sudden everyone becomes an expert and such when you were the one who was watching and competing when no one knew what it was. Kind of gets annoying.

I kind of see where you coming from, but MMA doesn't fit in with the criteria you've described. The demographic that MMA has exploded in right now, is probably going to be the only demographic that will enjoy it, with a few exceptions of age and some people falling from other demos. Your Grandma is going to watch MMA because it's not something that will interest old people. Same with your 4 year old son. This isn't the WWE, it's not comedy. It is a sport, and I don't think it will reach the point were everyone is watching it. That doesn't mean it won't be popular; just look at boxing's success.

Support Mixed Martial Arts, not Ultimate Fighting
