NO.

Judges Richard Bertrand and Doug Crosby scored the fight 48-47 for Jones. Chris Lee had the champion winning four rounds, giving him a 49-46 score.

Actually the opposite is true. It's usually a sign a fighter is overhyped. Fedor comes to mind. You had is fans who were ready to brawl when anything bad was said about him, yet most knew the last 5-7 years of his career he was vastly overrated. Finally, Henderson ended the debate. Fedor was king of an HW era, but ranked way too high for too long. I said it for years.

Cormier is also ranked way too high, which is why there's such controversy about him.

Doubtful I'd remember that guys legacy.. (if that's what hes worried about)

Jones really can't do right can he? Almost everyone blasted me for saying Cormier isnt that impressive. They told me that Jones is ducking him, and that he is defo going to take the title when he fights Jones.

Jones may well have had an insanely tough fight with Gus, but the record shows that he won.

Jones is now picking a guy, whom most people think is tougher, that he hasn't faced before. How can he be insulted for that?

I didn't say quite that. I'd just like to see DC dominate someone who isn't past it, a complete rookie, or has one punch in their attack.

I'm not even saying anything huge, but look at the options of fights for Cormier to fully earn a title shot. If anyone thinks I'm being unfair to Cormier, people show me where it's disputable that Mir, Nelson, Cummings or Hendo are currently better than these guys.

Glover Texieira - Just fought for the title. Is probably a lot better on the feet and is a big strong guy, so might be able to keep it standing and get a knockout (I think he does).

Anthony Johnson - Completely negated everything wrestling based from his last opponent and looked a million dollars on the feet.

Rashad Evans - Fight was arranged, should be remade. Evans has been exposed a fair bit in recent times and would get destroyed by DC, but still a top level fighter.

Phil Davis - Another guy that I reckon gets destroyed but is a top level guy.

Ryan Bader - I think Bader actually poses some problems for DC. He's a big strong guy, and has good boxing. Would be a great fight to show the absolute best of Cormier imo.

I don't think we're asking too much here. I just want to see Cormier in there with someone I'm not going to pick holes in after the fight. If he was to fight Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen, Shogun Rua etc. then I'm still going to be saying the exact same stuff.

He's undoubtedly top 4 at LHW though. I'd like to know what people thinks he'd bring to the table against Lyoto Machida.

You've not absolutely buried your entire argument with the Fedor comparison.

Fedor dropped Hendo, Hendo slipped out the back door and landed strikes until the ref stopped it. This could have happened at ANY stage in Fedor's career. I don't feet that at ANY stage he was overrated, and feel that his losses left him underrated. Anyone in the world can be caught and subbed by Fabricio Werdum. Fedor landed full force punches in Bigfoot's face and the freak just stood there and took them. I suppose Bigfoot then did legitimately defeat Fedor on the ground, but to be fair how many freakshows have the skillset that Bigfoot has?

Well said, I have Cormier losing 3 of the 4 listed above, and I have Hendo losing to all of them, quite easily. But that's just what I can see for right now. I just haven't been that impressed.

Again, Hendo is a natural MW, and yet he was called out by Fedor, mainly for the reason of giving him and easy win. It reminds me of when Larry Holmes called out Michael Spinks from a lower weight class so he could break Marciano's record. Spinks dominated him. It was classic.

I would have great respect for Fedor if he just would have joined the UFC when Nog and all the other Pride HW's did. He would have lost his first few fights, but that's okay. All great fighters eventually lose. Instead and stayed away and fought cans to protect his record.

Hendo was looking a little bit better back then, and I wouldn't say he was "past it". I was looking forward to Hendo Vs Jones tbh.

Yeah Fedor cost himself the opportunity to be the greatest of all time by not joining UFC.

... just doesn't make sense! Alex and Jones participated in the fight of the year, they are equal size and their reach is almost identical, Alex "fat lipped" Jones and beat him up for three rounds straight in their first encounter and their rematch would make big bucks. They are destined to have their rematch next... and it just doesn't make sense to put Cormier in front of the line right away. Jones should fight The Mauler!!

He will. This isn't old school boxing politics. No Floyd Mayweathers in the UFC.

Yes, I said in an earlier post that I made a mistake. Unfortunately that sentence I guess is all you took from my post. But considering who is in my signature and what your username is, I don't ever see us agreeing on anything on this, lol.
