Junior dos Santos wants 'beautiful fight' against Stipe Miocic in November return

Admit it, the UFC heavyweight division just isn't the same without "Cigano" knocking people out every three months.

We miss you!

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight titleholder Junior dos Santos is slowly but surely returning from the injury that knocked him from The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Brazil 3" mixed martial arts (MMA) event earlier this year in Brazil.

He stranded Stipe Miocic on FOX Sports 1, who went on to flatten Fabio Maldonado.

The good news is, both fighters are still interested in squaring off, and "Cigano" told MMA Fighting that he's planning on a November return. If Miocic is ready, willing, and able to wait that long, the Brazilian expects a "beautiful fight."

Quote:
"I saw this October card in Rio as a possibility, but my coaches think it's too soon to be back because I'm not even training hard yet and I need to re-adapt myself to training before starting a camp. October would be too early for me. I will schedule my next fight when I feel 100 percent ready. I talked to Joe Silva and explained everything to him, and I'm positive that I will be ready to fight again in November. Miocic is doing a good job, coming off great wins. I was focused on fighting him before, trained for him, so I think it would be a good fight for me. It would be a beautiful fight for the fans as well."
Dos Santos (16-3) has been alternating wins and losses following his first title defense back in 2012. After stopping Frank Mir at UFC 146, "Cigano" suffered a crushing defeat to current heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. A sensational head-kick finish against Mark Hunt at UFC 160 set up a trilogy, but he once again came up short in his quest for reclaiming the crown.

Now he'll have to wait just a little bit longer before slugging his way back into the win column.

Heal up Junior, I'd like to see Stipe/Overeem, winner gets JDS.

Edit.... don't mind me I just remembered that Reem is fighting Ben.....

Nothing to see here, move along..

Wondering who fights on ufc 179 then.

Aldo-Mendes 2 is not a strong main for a ppv. I sort of figured JDS would co main, looks to not be the case.

Usually they go Brazilian heavy. Machida Rockhold? Tex vs someone? Is he even ready? I dont see many choices for Brazilian co main here? I bet it will be a pretty soft card for a ppv.

Not a great time for it. Not even sure if it needs to happen. But will they ever look at Machida/Shogun 3?

A little off the subject of JDS but the only logical choices I can see them giving Tex is either Rumble or Maniuwa....

Both of those fights I love..

Yea woukdnt mind either. Or Rashad if hr is even ready? Any would be finr co mains. Just wondering how this card even shapes up. They lucked out that Aldo was ready for it, just a week ago he said he wouldnt rush and didnt know if he would make that card.

As for Junior maybe they do Miocic JDS on the Cain Werdum card in November so they have a replacement in Miocic should they need him.

I am rubbish compared to you lot, I cannot keep up with the constant changing cards, future cards and who should fight when... I just watch them regardless of who's fighting...

It is great looking at UFC website on a Thursday to see there is a killer event that weekend. Don't get me wrong, I catch every event, and JDS is one of my favorites...

...November??? Lot of shit can happen between now and then, call me a week before the fight.

I think JDS would smash Stipe. Still think he is the #2 in the division.

Yah that's a very big jump in competition for Stipe. Lots of great fights to put on. JDS vs The Reem, Barnett, Big Foot, Travis Browne, and there's Arlovski now too. Come to think of it the SF additions was huge for the HW division.

From the looks of it, Cain might be ruling for awhile. I don't think Cain will lose to Werdum although he poses some interesting challenges on the ground. He just can't get sloppy while he GNPs Werdum. Prolly best to just get up once Werdum opens his guard especially in the early rounds.

JDS also said he doesn't want to be involved with a fight with Barnett or Overeem. He thinks the only reason they have called him out is to make money by being in a fight with him.... Oh JDS..

I like MMA less because of this forum

I truly believe that Cain and Dos Santos are so far ahead of everybody else in the world. That they can only be competitive against each other.
When I say everybody I mean every human on the planet.
