Houston Alexander has signed a new 3 fight deal with the UFC according to published reports. The deal replaces a smaller 3 fight deal he had signed with the organization prior to his fight with Keith Jardine. The upset earned him the new deal which is likely simply in increase in base salary and fight bonuses. His rumored UFC 75 fight with Alessio Sakara will be the first fight on his new contract.

Alexander came into UFC 71 as a complete unknown with fans struggling to even find a picture of the fighter online let alone much background on him but Alexander put all of that to rest when he quickly defeated Keith Jardine with a TKO in the firt round of their main card fight. Prior to coming to the UFC Alexander was on an impressive streak. After starting his career with a loss but came back to win 6 straight. His last fight before the Jardine TKO was a no contest. He is currently in the midst of a 7 fight win streak.

Several days ago UFCDaily.com announced that Jardine would be facing Sakara at UFC 75 in London. We have now learned that the fight is expected to be broadcast on the PPV portion of the card.

Many worried as to whether Alexander would be enough to make a card worthy of one of the five PPV slots but the UFC apparently think he can in just his second UFC fight. The organization will surely want to put him in front of as many faces as possible right now as he is one of the most recognized names and is highly marketable. With UFC 71 garnering so much main stream attention his knockout win received plenty of coverage around the world.

Jardine got what he deserved for talking trash and saying how he should have been fighting a contender. Perhaps he learned a lesson - never take a fight lightly.

I think he took him lightly. Before the fight he was all pissy and openly said how he thought he should be fighting a contender.

I forget who he was originally slated to fight, but Alexander was a late replacement, and i think Jardine thought he was a can.

thats great news, i think every UFC fan has been looking forward to seeing if it was a fluke or if this guy is for real, he certainly has the strength and KO power needed to take on the top contenders in the LHW division, my only concern is that Jardine simply took him lightly and now Houston's opponents know what he can do they won't take him for granted like keith did.

Actually you and anyoe else should watch the replay over and over when he gets hit by jardine and he was hit by jardine be he stepped back and watch his right ankle, It buckled and that is why he fell.

Do't believe me you can see it almost snap when he was stepping back watch it.
