Lou Gehrig’s disease is absolutely a well known disease. You have never heard of Lou Gehrig's disease before?

I wasn't aware this had anything to do with a disease... I mean, I knew it was for something but To me it just looked like celebrities jumping on a bandwagon, trying to get their own bit of spotlight.

Hopefully they donated.

Man, I never, ever heard about that type of sclerosis. I heard about Multiple Sclerosis, though, but that would be the extent of it. If I had to describe Multiple Sclerosis in a test I would get a big zero from that question.

Anywho, people will do whatever they wish, hopefully these rich guys are donating along with needlessly dumping water on themselves.
This isn't about getting attention, it is about raising awareness and money by doing something that will get peoples attention... Its a pretty simple concept...

Many of these celebrities are probably donating(many of them clearly have) and even the ones that decide not to have helped this go viral and got many other people to either donate or at least think about doing so. I know I for one would not have just woke up thinkin I was going to donate towards ALS...

Don't take my word for it though, take the ALSA's word for it...

Strange, must just be around my area because I've literally never met a person that didn't know about that disease, it's as common as parkinson's or any other well known disease. If some people really don't know about such a common thing and need an ice bucket dumped on rich people to know what it is, then they really do need to be more educated and given some extra awareness. Anything to educate people more is a good thing I suppose.

I honestly couldn't care less if it helps or not, I just thought it was a really strange way to bring "awareness" to something, and still do. If it helps it helps.

She should have wore something more revealing for that, it would have brought more awareness to people if a half naked #1 female MMA fighter drenched herself instead of fully clothed. Word of mouth goes far.

This thing was old a month ago, now it's got this weird second wind because sports stars and celebs caught on to the trendiness. Blah. Most people have no clue why they are even doing it, it's just trendy.

I like MMA less because of this forum

And that is all that matters...

But you guys are right, we shouldn't do things like this because these diseases will cure themselves

I'm with you on this. Never heard of this disease myself (I'm hardly uneducated) and am not really a fan of these weird internet trend things. Butttt saying that... if at the end of the day a charity that is fighting a disease, illness or any individual/social problem of some sort is getting more money. Whats the harm? Let it be. And let us hope that the people with the money are donating and not just using it as a means of gaining more followers/fans.

You realize every single day people are learning something new they weren't aware before, don't you? I am sure you are clueless about many things that are common to others too.

And what I find weird and hard to believe is you spoke about ALS with every person you met in your life.
