It definitely was convincingly, but Barao also didn't do many mistakes, he only did the same mistakes over and over again. So if he's been able to work on those mistakes and get rid of them, the rematch could look quite differently.
And Barao got hurt by one specific strike pretty early in the fight. It obviously handicapped Barao for the rest of the fight. Which is something that may happen and a legitimate way to win for Dillashaw, but there is no guarantee that this happens in the rematch again. If Barao can avoid getting hurt early, it may also make the rematch look differently.
I think Renan comes in all guns blazing, he's a technical fighter who thrives in aggression, lately he's been sitting back a bit... he gave TJ too much space, too much time.
He shouldn't give TJ the room to land that big shot this time, Barao should be relentless, it'll pay off. I think this fight goes all over the place and ends in Barao locking up a submission.
Hard for me to bet against a guy who dominated the first fight the way Dillashaw did. I'm seeing much more of the same in this fight perhaps Barao does a bit better but Dillashaw controls the fight from start to finish and wins a decision.
I have lost all the respect I had for Barao. He did nothing but make excuse after excuse after excuse about why he lost the first time. One of his excuses to why he lost was he got hurt by a punch early on.... WELL NO ******* SHIT! That is what punches are designed to do! You dont see Bisping coming out saying, Yeah, I would have won the Henderson fight but I got hurt by a punch in the 2nd round. For **** sake Renan, accept your loss like a man.
That's half the reason this fight is more appealing to me. Imagine this guy winning the title on 24 hours notice.
Think of it this another way as well. say you take a a few days break from MMA and social media and expect Dillashaw to fight Barao on Saturday, but then you decide to look up the results on Sunday, and see that Joe Soto is the new champion. The temporary confusion would be legendary.
Picking Dillashaw to win, but I'd laugh if Soto pulled it off because of how random this whole thing is.
